I upgraded to 2022, and it just so happens that a feature i use frequently has been sloppily trashed by the programmers. Record melody FROM bar, just doesn't work correctly. it starts 2 bars early, and actually records 2 bars early! the cut and paste inside the piano roll is broken as well. When you hit menu option to record melody from a certain bar, it opens a window with the correct bar on it.. only to be followed by another window with bar 1 on it, which for some reason seems to want to allow you to record audio and midi at the same time, yet it doesn't even carry over the measure info from the previous window, so now you have to retye the desired bar, only for it to start 2 measures early!! Then, it plays the previous recorded midi as you are trying to record over it, which totally screws with your head. So last option would be to open the piano roll and freaking cut/copy and paste to fix it, and voila, that is broken too, pasting in a seemingly random spot rather than the measure you are on. FIX THIS MESS! to make it easy, just use the code from 2020 - that was somewhat fine.

Man oh man. Clicking or moving a note on the Piano Roll plays the note here. Are your MIDI settings correct to play to a VSTi or external output device? If you select the Pianos tab in the Mixer, do you receive audio when clicking on the piano keys?

Okay i installed build 912 (from 908), and all the same things are happening 1.no sound when clicking on piano role note or keyboard 2.when i record melody to a particular bar, the first window appears correctly with correct bar #, but then another combined window appears along with with record audio option, the chosen bar does not appear, and start of song does not work, instead it uses whatever bar you entered in the starting bar. 3. when recording from a bar, it starts 2 bars early, and always plays the previous recording, even if overdub is clicked.
i upgraded from 2020, and none of the problems above were happening.
If Band-in-a-Box is starting to record too early, try the "From Bar #" option. Notice you can set the recording to start at any bar and any chorus.
Punch in recording (at the bottom of the dialog window) defaults can be confusing. The boxes are chorus, bar, beat and tick. The default is -1 which is one bar before the chord sheet starts to allow for a one bar count-in recording.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
