Okay, I have a couple of questions that I just know you experts can answer without a second thought. But I'm just a user and I try to get by with the modicum of BiaB wisdom I've managed to collect from you folks along the way.
I need to start at the beginning. I loaded an audio file into BiaB, which was a backing track and, no I don't know how many pieces in the band, but I'd guess at least five or more cuz there were horns. My goal was to generate a chord chart, which I finally figured out how to get BiaB to do. But it left me with a blown up mixer, which I was finally able to get back into the shape I wanted. But it also left me with a couple of other things, one I'm wondering about, and the other I need to unstick.
First, after it generated the chords, there are now red lines under each bar number. What do these mean, and how do I get rid of them?
Second, this tune is now stuck on the tempo of the original audio file I imported. When I click on a new tempo, it jumps back to the original, except when I stop the song, and then it shows the tempo I selected. But as soon as I start the song up again, it jumps back to the original tempo.
I deleted the audio channel's data, hoping that would take care of it, but it didn't. I then saved the file, hoping if I called it up fresh, that might resolve this, but nope, that didn't work either.
So, what's the trick? How do I unstick my song from this tempo?
As always, thanks in advance for any pearls of wisdom you care to provide.

But as soon as I start the song up again, it jumps back to the original tempo. I am betting that One and two are related. I think the red underlines on each bar indicated their is a bar setting change. This change is the very likely the tempo. The chord wizard has set the tempo at each bar, since it changes a little bit. You need to "remove all bar settings". Their is a check box to do this in the f5 menu.

I agree with Dan. The red lines indicate that a bar setting has changed. If you press F5, you will see something about that bar that is not the default, and it’s likely tempo. Using the audio chord wizard, you want to be sure to get the beginning and subsequent bars lined up to the music, and when you do, it’s a great feature that the tempo map has been made for you.
I’m not sure what the story is with your mixer, but you always have the fall-back method of Options, Return to Factory Settings if you can’t figure it out otherwise.

Isn't there a normalize tempo now that will remove the tempo map of the source audio file ?

Thanks guys. Actually it isn't "remove all bar settings," it's "reset all bars." Close enough. I held my breath and clicked on the button and the red lines disappeared. I didn't do anything with the tempo in there -- could have, but didn't -- but now it's taking tempo changes. Okay, I knew it would be something simple, but I would have probably searched for hours before I got to that F5 menu. So thanks much!
Tell you what, this auto-interpreting of an audio file's chord progression sure is nice. In this particular instance, it got pretty close, but missed on a few chords. That's okay, though. Gave me the excuse to get in there and tweak the progression more to my liking anyway. Cuz now, it's mine!

Isn't there a normalize tempo now that will remove the tempo map of the source audio file ? Good question. Last time I used ACW, I could not find that feature and was stuck with all the tempo changes. Just as reported here.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
