I've never used band in a box for a while , and I'm use a different computer.i have a lot of styles on cd, when I try to load them nothing happens.its as if the cd player doesn't recognise the files
are these the original cds/dvds you bought with the styles on? if so you need to install them to BIAB. should work automatically when you isert the disc but if not search the disc for a file called setup.exe or similar.
i think that's the problem. have you got BIAB installed properly on your pc? even very old versions come with some built-in styles so you shold be able to at least create some basic songs. then load the style discs.
Yes these are styles I bought a while ago. The band in a box version is 2008.i have four cd,s but when I put cd in they just spin and nothing happens. But my cd/dvd drives are working with every other cd I put in. It's as if my drives not reading them
When you use Windows Explorer to view the CDs file content, what kind of file names are displayed? What is the file suffix of some of the files? The file suffix will give us a hint of what files are on the CDs.
For example files with a MGU or SGU suffix are Band-in-a-Box song files while files with a STY suffix are Yamaha or Band-in-a-Box style files.
The cds don't do anything they just spin. They won't open in explorer, they just do nothing. I have five discs none open. But every other thing I load is cd/dvd drive works fine. I've moved to windows 10. Would that be the problem
Silly idea but have you tried cleaning the discs? If they've been stored for a long time that may help although I do remember some old PG music discs I had had the same problem before I switched to digital downloads. Eventually my old discs loaded. Can you try them in another PC? I wonder if they 'search ' for a valid BIAB installation as part of the setup. Maybe try PG live chat? They are super helpful.
There were quite a few variations of CDs, notably CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW. They also came with slightly differinging capacities. I'm not sure how compatible these standards really were, especially across different CD drives.
Might you know someone who has a different CD-drive in which you can try them?
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. Kawai MP6, Korg M50, Ui24R, Saffire Pro 40. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11; Win8.1: Scarletts BIAB2022 UltraPAK, Reaper, a bunch of stuff.
If all five discs have the same problem, it's probably not a bad disc (that would be unlikely), but probably just a compatibility issue between the discs and the drive on your new PC. I would find another PC with an optical drive, and hopefully they will work - then transfer the files to a USB drive and take them back to your PC on that.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
