If a new customer comes along and wants to know what bonus paks they've missed out on from previous years, or if you skip upgrading one or more year/s and then want to complete your collection of paks later, are they gone for good, or do they show up elsewhere sometime later?

Ryan,
No, they are never "gone", but become a part of bigger packages the next year like Ultra Pack, Audiophile and perhaps others, but not the lower tier.

And the next new Bonus pack will be born the next year.

P.S. Please correct me if I am wrong.

When I asked this of PG Music, the answer, in my opinion, was not clear. I think that some parts of a bonus pak become part of future versions but not all. The last statement I recall was that the company is considering whether to make some sort of catch-up pak available. However, this is just my take on the discussion and does not in any way represent an answer by PG Music.

the logical way for PGMusic to monetize the work they've put into creating the bonus paks is to include previously released paks in one of the premium offerings. Like maybe a new version between Ultrapak plus and audiophile. Or bundle them into the Ultrapak plus offering.

This approach would be consistent with the current approach of upselling by adding more content to some paks while simultaneously making it affordable to people who only want to buy the new stuff because they already have all the old stuff.

It would also mean that the bonus packs don't vanish after one offering, and can continue adding value to the customers and the company's bottom line.

I'd pay a little extra every few years to catch up on all the bonus content I missed. For some reason that makes more sense to me than a bunch of small extra purchases of bonus offerings.

my two cents.

I agree, Pat. That’s the pitch I made, that I would pay for a one-time ‘Bonus Upgrade’ pak.

Or maybe keep all bonus paks available in the store. That way people can purchase which pak(s) they want, much like Realtracks. That would keep the upgrade costs lower but still have the paks available year after year. YMMV

My 1.25 cents, inflation!

Seems to me the issue would be that if the bonus RT come back in a future package, then folks will feel like they are paying for the same content they already paid for? cry No me of course, but other folks... grin

Dan, that’s exactly what I did not feel closure on. My understanding is some yes, some no.

Mario, I can’t remember what I bought, or didn’t buy, in almost three decades of using BIAB. If they offered those bonus Paks AND there was a utility to tell me what BONUS add-ons I don’t have, then we are good to go.

I would like to see a utility that scans your current BIAB folder and then shows what you're missing. BIAB, at least the last time I looked, already knows what it doesn't have, so maybe something that provides a custom "Catch-Up Pak' that will bundle everything you're missing into one Pak.

Obviously, you could do that manually, and have a pick-and-choose selection to 'build' your 'Catch-Up Pak', and just choose what you want.

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

The concept is excellent. A Pak Update feature would be very useful.

Actually Matt we only got about 6" of snow. Lots of wind but little snow.

The cities on the Eastern shores of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario got hit very hard. Buffalo NY is at the Eastern end of Lake Erie and Watertown NY is at the Eastern end of Lake Ontario. Those surrounding areas also got hit.

When we get hit hard is from a NorEastern. We generally get a lot of snow during those storms; note I am near Rochester NY. We get nailed because the Noreastern picks up moisture from Lake Ontario, converts it to snow, then dumps it on us, usually in my driveway!

For those whom don't know what a noreastern is

Does the BB Help menu > 'What add-ons do I have?' screen assist with this?

I think, with no proof, that the answer is Some, but a little bit No. That menu option shows some add-ons like Xtra and Xpro styles, but as far as RealTracks in bonus paks, we don't know how many are rolled into next year as part of the normal package. The ones that are not are the basis for the questions that are being explored here.

My logic is, when I asked about this, if all bonus pak offerings eventually wind up in the regular package, then why would PG Music be considering this question further? They could have just told me I have everything.

But I could be completely wrong.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
