After all this time, why is it still impossible to enter a major 7 9 chord? This chord is in very common usage in fake books. Why should any jazz chord be excluded for that matter? Forties jazz chords are nice and all that but just try to enter some Pat Martino chords and you might as well be talking greek. Are you guys going to support jazz or not? I know about slash chords as a work around. Those are marginally effective unless you really need all the proper extensions in the proper place. In the middle of a project the last thing I want to do is try to fire up my midi rig and remember how everything works and then try to get it into biab. I need to be learning tunes and practicing not doing what biab should be doing.

Just type in Cmaj9. Major 9 implies a maj 7. Look in help or your manual for the chord list. Later, Ray

Notes:
- It is not necessary to type upper or lower case. For example type c6 to get the C6 chord. You should never have to use the Shift key, as Band-in-a-Box will sort this out for you.
- Any chord may be entered with an alternate root ("Slash Chord") e.g.: C7/E = C7 with E bass.
- Separate chords with commas to enter 2 chords in a 2 beat cell, e.g., Dm, G7.
- Use the letter B for a flat; e.g., Bb7
- Use # or 3 for a sharp; e.g., F#7. The pound sign (#) is the uppercase symbol of 3, so you can actually type f37 to get F#7. Band-in-a-Box will sort out the case, saving you the effort of using Shift+3 to type the # symbol.
- Use "=" for "+"; the program automatically converts "=" to "+" so that chords like C+7 can be entered without using the shift key.
- You can type C-7 for Cm7 (i.e. use the minus sign) or C7-9 for C7b9.
Tricky Chords:
C5b This is "C flat 5." It is spelled this way to avoid confusion.
C2, C5, C4, C69, C7alt, Cm7#5
Shortcut Chords:
If you enter a lot of songs, you'll appreciate these shortcut keys.
J = Maj7
H = m7b5 (H stands for Half diminished)
D = dim
S = Sus
Example: To type CMaj7, just type cj (it will be entered as CMaj7).

This question could have appeared in the regular BIAB forum as a simple "How do I enter a major 9 chord"? Ray or others would have quickly given you the answer. A work-around is not needed.

I was wondering can you get all these chords in Real tracks? Or, possibly, there may be simplified subs? If you can get them all this would be a miracle!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
