Suddenly ALL You Tube videos have no sound... video plays normally - the speaker icon at the bottom now has a red 'x' next to it (muted)... I changed nothing.
Apparently this is a very common bug - judging by all the entries in Bing - but none of the listed 'fixes' work... hoping one of you BIAB users can suggest something..
I use You Tube exclusively to learn new songs - so I am totally lost without it...

May need to update your Flash player. Could be that it is missing a codec or something

Did that too - among about 17 other 'sure fixes' listed... NOTHING WORKS!
Judging by the amount of entries when I googled this subject, I am not alone...
It's incredible to me that with this bug so rampant, no one has figured it out...
I'll keep hoping someone comes thru on this...

I have a similar, but not identical problem. I saved a favorite (of buffolo springfield) but when I go to play it - no sound - other vids work on u tube, I can see the pictures move, I listened to it the first time that's why I saved it, but now -zilch - no big deal, but its a utube thing.
In Iplayer (BBC UK) after 1 hour I get no sound and have to log off and back on to get it back, other sound sources work its just the player

Like I said - this is ALL You Tube videos... sound is muted..
All other audio/video works normally - Win Media Player - BIAB - Winamp - Real Player....
In such a computer savy world - this is simply ridiculous...

What's the common denominator?
Yes it seems to be happening enough that it should be solved by now .. but the percentages tell me there must be something 'different' with these systems (may be hardware, drivers or they all got the same infection or something).
Most people are still fine; there must be something different with those systems not working right.

A first step might be to find out what player and codec UTube is calling/using Mayee try a reinstall of flash also see this: https://www.youtube.com/html5 Just guessing I am no techy.
