I have a harmonizer. The TC helicon voicelive
It works fine with my present setup sending data out via midi 5, setting the device to midi 5 and using midi to the Ketron.

I was interested in another post saying Band in a Box cannot do multiple midi devices.

I have no problem clicking use Dxi (Coyote Forte) as the main midi device chosen in the window. I also have a Uno usb to midi device and I select that on both accounts. Running the midi from the midi cable to the voicebox on midi 5 I am able to control the box with commands from the solo track, by pressing F5 and putting in the patch to select the harmony type.

My computer played the Dxi synth and sent midi ch 5 triads and chords to the voicebox, along with commands to change it's operation.

I suspect that if you set other tracks such as the Melody track to use midi 12 going to a lighting console and changing the scene. All that that should be possible, you just need to chain the devices and have them respond on their own channel.

If you have any questions there are others here who have used this type of device.

I just did a gig with a good singer who has that harmonizer and all I can say is wow, that thing is killer. He has several presets and really knows how to use them to good effect.

Bob.

I'm new to BIAB but not to using software. I found your posts interesting and have a few questions if I may.
I was under the impression by the manual that the "harmony" send was MIDI triad info and not AUDIO data sent through the DXi synth, since you said that it sent triads to your harmonizer to interpret. I also use one, but it's a dgitech vocalist live 4 (no MIDI)(unless I'm missing something?)
Here's what I'm running into so far.I am stricktly at this point importing my MIDI files into BIAB, the only way I've found so far is to do that by importing them into the "melody" where at least I can edit all 16 channels as needed.(I do use the lyric option, so I save them as kar files.) So here is my dilema.
If I use the internal DXi,(ex- sound canvas) to play back the MIDI files, I cannot send MIDI to any external source (other than through the harmony channel mentoned?).I do use the MIDI "through" channel to play along using my cotroller keyboard, that works fine.(but "through" does not mean "external" in this instance) since I do want to control some other MIDI external devices (lighting, etc).
If I use my USB MIDI device as the driver,I cannot then use the DXi synth to play back internally.I don't see a way where one can "assign" the MIDI channels to go external or be routed to the DXi, which would be exactly what I want to do. My workaround for this experiment is to open one instance of BIAB running the DXi synth for playback, and a second instance loaded with the MIDI "out" data for the lighting and pedals, ect.and start them at the same time,(or a close to that as possible, compensating for time on the less critical MIDI controller portion)Sorry to be so long winded, but I'm hoping the explaination will elicit some ideas. I have been using a Ketron Midjay, which of course will let one do all these things, but I now want to "slim down" my setup hopefully into my laptop, where I can also control my guitar software, do away with extra monitors, cables, boxes, etc. Hope it isn't a pipe dream!!! thanks to anyone willing to lend a hand. bob1474

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
