my canadian cousin, helen from moncton, new brunswick, finally came through with nine cover songs. she asked me to add some rt fills and apply noise reduction. they have been mixed/mastered so adding rts in background is all that can be done. my brother just died so my head and heart is not in it. after squeezing these songs out of her i don't want to disappoint her. since they are covers, i can't post them on the internet, but i'd be happy to email them to anyone willing to help me.

Make a slide show and post on Youtube. They seem to not mind or care.

Robh,
Nine (9) sounds like a lot of work?

Not sure exactly what can be done with cover songs which have already been put together, but If you would want to send one or two my way, i would be glad to help out.

Post mastering is not the time to apply noise reduction. Just something to consider. Noise reduction should have first happened way back in mixing stage. Then again at mastering.

Of course Rhav is right. So while I am not sure what can be done, assuming something can be done, I am willing to give it a go. Send me one at:

,,,,,,,,,,,

the coding should be easy to figure. I'll let you know quickly if there is something I can do as soon as I give a listen.

To make it much easier for the volunteers, Don, can you give them chord progressions on these songs? Even a fake book reference, since fake books differ.

Good point, it'll save time. ACW should do the job, but having the info ahead of time will help. Tempo too.

They came through on the second address I provided.

Don, not sure what can really be done here. These are full band arrangements including multiple vocalists. Performance is good - country twang from the first two I listened to, and the general audio quality is OK, but not stellar.

I put the 02-Track2.wma and loaded into RB, ran ACW - set the begining and bar markers. Got the Chords good. This may be a live recording (versus a session - don't know for sure), but the tempo is drifting a little.

At this point the best I can hope for is to find some RT's which fit with the band and don't clash with the rhythm section or vocals. Not going to be easy. The vocals are generally on top of the mix so I though I could just blend in with volume adjustments, but I am afraid this will not mix well.

Any suggestions from the group here??

dan, track 2 is the one that she said "begs for country-fied organ. i tend 2 agree so will ask mac to throw some b3 fills at it. mac, ole buddy? i asked helen if she had or could get the individual tracks. that would be way kewl. she's checking. yes, it was a live recording in her musician friend's garage studio so the tempo drifts a lot. mac can fix that if he can just start working 40 hour days. on track 1, the guitar break needs to come up some imho. dan, can you host the songs and link everyone to them who want to pitch/punch-in? just for a week or so? all nine take 24 meg.

I am half way there on Track 2, so let me wrap up what I have on this one before anyone else weighs in. I actually have RT 409 Fiddle sounding nice, but will look for that organ.

Afer dinner I will see what I can do with setting up a simple folder with pre- and post- files. I will get back to you shortly. I have enough bandwidth to host the .seq files (I think).

OK, Guys here you go.

I'm working on 02_Track_2.wma so all the rest are open for volunteers. I set up the site only to download as allowing uploading means assigning FTP assess and this may not be necessary. I suspect we can individually work on the files and then send them back to Don, any which way. Still not entirely sure this is doable or how things will turn out, however, I have learned more about ACW and RB in the last hour than the last year.

Cool Dan great idea. I will start with track 1 for now and we can both work on some of these. Looks like fun.

I'm no good for this sort of thing. Cripes I'm no good for much other than sitting in a chair and typing. BUT is it just me getting really weird results on Firefox 8 and spell check? Like above 'they cam threw'. Now I type in something lately and unless I go back and re-read it stuff gets changes like came through becomes cam threw. Cam should try out for the Red Sox LOL. Need all the help they won't get.

Good like guys, I'm waiting with the proverbial baited breath, (after the ingestion of worms eh?)

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
