when you purchase the upgrade, you are given a link to the download page. you then download the files on that page (there are several, depending on which pack you purchased), then just install each of the files you downloaded by doubleclicking them.

RB and BIAB are both updated with those files.

the upgrade will take a while depending on the pack you purchased. this is one of my pet peeves about BIAB installation - I don't understand why each separate file has to be installed separately, but that's the way they chose to implement it.

The separate files are only for the downloads (so you don't have to download a single huge file), which allow you to go ahead and use the product right away. When you receive and install from the USB drive, however, the install is much smoother.

You should download and SAVE all the files in a folder on your computer, because the download links expire after a few days. That way, if you ever need to re-install the software, you'll have the files to do so.

After everything is downloaded, go to the folder where you saved them and run each of the executable files to install the software. Once done, if you don't want to keep the installation files on your computer, you can archive them off to DVD or external USB.

You do not need to uninstall anything; you can install version 2012 right into the same folder, usually C:/BB

All the rest of your questions have been answered. Do you still have a concern?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
