Hi. I am a Mac user but Im guessing this request is universal to PC. I was wondering if it were possible to make available the individual samples of the various jazz drum kit elements ie kicks, crashes etc, that you use and have recorded for your jazz real drum loops?
I find it frustrating that often between A/B transitions crash cymbal tails are not able to decay (although I appreciate the technical reasons) and I would like to be able to create better/personalised drum intros and endings that sonically tie in to the rest of the track...
I would naturally pay for this content...I feel this would be a very very helpful creative feature.

There are individual drum hits in the file of the drum track that you want. The crashes have tails too . I have used them when needed especially at the end of a song .

Hi Tommyc, thanks for this. So are the individual drum kit element hits/recordings/files in with the loops somewhere? I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'in the file of the drum track that you want'...I'll check the hard-drive directory where the loops are stored.
Strange that the guys at PG Music did'nt let me know this when I initially enquired - they told me to post it as an wishlist!!!??!!

cheers again

I don't think you and Tommyc are talking about the same thing. What you want, the program does not have. Perhaps what he means is to do audio editing to find the individual sounds. With the new loops feature in the PC version of 2012, this offers more possibilities.

Having the individual parts of the drums separated (kick, snare, toms, cymbals,...) would be useful, but it would increase the size of the realdrums by a factor of 5 or 6 or ... (depending on how many parts are there). Plus it couldn't happen in BIAB since there aren't enough tracks to accommodate -- maybe it would work in RealBand.

Not in the loops in the drum file folders . I have cut and pasted these in DAW's including RB . Don't know if Mac version has files in the same location . PC is in Drive "C"/bb/drums folder ,my guess would be Library > audio > bb in Mac but don't know for sure . When I got 2010 Biab it was from non PG sources and it didn't work and never got a refund so I experimented with the audio files to make songs . I took sections of their org audio files (had to convert to wav), cut and pasted(cause they are very long originally) all the instruments and made songs . Here is a link to the 2nd one I made ,my friend Keith is playing Sax .

It was a very long and drawn out process to do a whole song that way ,but adding a long tailed crash isn't . Make a file of the hit name and save it for future use . 16 bit will work in RB ,ad where you want it .

ps Named it 2 is greater than 1 cause the 1st one didn't come out as good !

Cheers for the replies. As per my original post then, I would suggest to the developers that making available the individual drum samples as used in the loops would have value for post production/mixing in any external DAW. Id certainly pay for them if they were available. To clarify, im not referring to every single drum loop being made available in a multichannel capacity...
Regards

I have seen a similar suggestion for non percussion. Some if not all the leading samplers (I know Kotakt and Halions) can easily spread a ceertain sample across a few octvaes or key assignments. Its an amlost trivial task to get a set of samples assigned to various keys.
I have been thinking that a PG sampler, loaded with files of various PG sounds, could be a very useful thing for working with the Real tracks - for some forms of work. But I think to that BIAB now needs a total rewrite for the 64 bit world and for the sake of moving away from this 'bend it to make do' interface we now have.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
