Hi, I know a number of guys are "up to speed" with Amplitube......can anyone point me in the right direction? Some combinations of Plug-ins & Amps that can give me a good "Country Sound" with my Telecaster?
I'm working with BIAB & Sonar. I have a few solos to insert......with a good bit of "cross picking".
Up till now, I've just 'used my ears'.....( I wonder what John will make of that/!!) .. to compress them quite a bit...then a bit of reverb.
Has anyone used an Amplitube combination that will give a better sound? I've really only had a quick browse through ..........It's hard to decide what's available!
Over the years my pedals have been few........a combination of Wah-Wah...Chorus....Reverb & Phase on stage.
And in the Studio I was always "d-id"...and relied on the engineer for effects
I've never used distortion......but something with a bit of attack to cut through then mix a bit would be an advantage.......or maybe I'm just being lazy? But I'm really enjoying RealTracks & getting to grips with the programmes a bit better. Regards, Joe G.

Joe,

Have you played around with the Amplitube presets? One of their preset groupings is genre-based and I have found this to be a great starting place of my songs.

Regards,
Noel

Hi Noel, The preset list is numbered.....but if I randomly click....I get this message ......."the current preset uses models which are not installed/............./may not sound as intended". How do I find any that WILL sound as intended? Regards, Joe G.

Try this - In the Amplitube window, click on the current preset name (upper left), this will show a number of preset groups (?). One is called "Band-in-a-Box". Expand that, and all those are installed. I think other groups are all installed too, like "Amplitube Free". Good luck.

Joe,

Any of the Fender amp simulations, with a fairly clean setting will help. Some compression before the amp can help as well. Spring reverb is nearly a must. I will see if I can pull some settings from old projects where I did some twangy picking using Amplitube 1 LE. The latest version has much more tweakability - but I would just start with Fender amp models without any effects and see what you get. Perhaps you've already been down this road? I can get a good twangy country tone with my Strat through Amplitube. I'll see what I can dial up and perhaps post here for your perusal.

Confirmed with some google searching - here's some specific dial settings and amp selections to try in this discussion thread:

Joe,

The below image is Amplitube opened as a VST in Reaper.

By clicking on the window I've marked with a yellow cross, various menus for many presets become available. Since these are available in Reaper, I imagine they are also there in Sonar.

Regards,
Noel

Hi Scott, I've managed to access the presets.....but none of the Fenders are available that I can see.
I might be looking in the wrong place?
Meanwhile I'll experiment with "Country Twang" from the BIAB section.

You are correct Joe, the Fender stuff is a add on and must be purchased. They had a 50% sale last month which I purchased several including the Fender Twin Reverb which would be the one most likely you would want for the country twang sound. Try the free stuff and see if anything fits your taste.

Joe, I'm sorry I can't help any further then. My version of Amplitube is quite old. It could be that they don't call out the specific amplifier like 'Princeton' because then they have to pay licensing to Fender for that. What you might look for is something like 'American Tube Classic', or something to that effect.

Now, since this is a more recent version of Amplitube than what I have, it's also possible that they culled all of the Fender amp models out of the basic version - because now there is the Fender specific version of Amplitube. That would be a shame if they in fact did this, but I can understand why they did it.

hmmm
when I click on the preset spinner, I don't get the list of BIAB presets...
I did buy the crossgrade... could it have overwritten whatever data provided the BIAB menu?

Anybody know how to get it back?

Hi Pat,

Try installing build #349 again. Here's a bit of info from the guru, Andrew.

Got it! That did the trick
(actually what I downloaded was a subset of the build 349 that contained only the amplitube stuff)

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
