I heard that there was an Android application that allows downloading songs from BIAB and then playing them later from an android tablet without being networked to the host BIAB computer (like at a gig). I couldn't find anything about this on the BIAB website. If this exists, I need to know where to look for info.

Let us know if this checks out. For now the closest thing I have found is Irealb..It is not compatible with Band In a Box but is similar. It is not nearly as powerful but plays back a proprietary format that has thousands of jazz fakebooks tunes. These books are legal since they lack melodies. It plays back based on selected style, tempo and key.
Since I have spent years using PG products I wish there was a way to use my huge library live. I quit using a laptop many years ago. I am an avid Android tablet user now. Based on my experience I am confident that tablets are becoming an essential tool for live performance. I use my tablet to play my Band In a Box tracks, and view lead sheets, lyrics or look up tunes in pdf fakebooks. I I have several thousand songs stored.
My guess is PG will address tablets in the near future. If not perhaps someone will do an app that transfers to a standard playable format.

I've got IRealB for my Kindle Fire (Android 2.3-based), and I also want a "converter" that can take BIAB files and produce the chord sheets for IReal. It would be nice to go the other way and suck a IRealB file into BIAB.
I haven't seen anyone say they are working on an app to do this -- probably something that runs in Windows and converts both ways would be minimal. If I don't hear of something in a month or so, I may have to write one myself. (This entails doing more research to update my old version of the app that parses BIAB files to pull out time sig, BPM, repeats, chords, codas, etc.)
I think the real problem with such a program will be that BIAB is still stuck in a file format that doesn't allow multiple or nested repeat loops within a song. This is one of the primary reasons it's difficult for PG to implement MusicXML or other rich music formats because newer formats allow, within reason, multiple repeats, including nested repeats. For now, BIAB has to "unroll" the repeats, and a conversion program has to find the points where repeats can be added to create a lead-sheet of chords that IRealB can use.
If anyone hears of a conversion app between IRealB and BIAB, please post on this thread since I will get notified when you post.
Thanks in Advance

If you use your andriod tablet to go to the Amazon app store, there is a BIAB app for like $3. Unfortunately there is something that prevents the app from running on the Kindle Fire so I haven't been able to purchase and install it. I'm assuming that the Google Play site has the same BIAB app from PGMusic.

These are the standard PG music programs I already have. I frankly see little benefit...possibly the remote might be ok. If PG doesn't produce something they may lose their lead as the standard format for music creation. I would think they could remain a leader a new growing market.
I would be happy for any type of conversion even if it requires entering repeats etc. The developer for Mobilesheets is a musician and is doing fabulous work with his program. I use Mobilesheets to view all of BIAB charts and play audio on live gigs. Check out his app and forum. If several users contact him he might consider this a project.

I've had some problems in coming up with a "player" for my backups. 2 mp3 players that I've had are now outdated in relation to Win 7 and 1 caused a crash due to a driver issue. Based on suggestions here, I've gone to using my netbook with a flash player, "AIMP". With it you can have playlists that will play one song at a time (option) so that we can talk to our audiences (non-paid gigs) between songs. A bad thing for me is the small screen and moving the mousepad to select the tunes and hit play. I'm thinking of getting an Ipad because of the bigger screen. I have a Kindle Fire, but I don't consider it reliable enough for a gig because of it's flaky touch screen even using a stylus. However, I don't know if there is an app that works as well as AIMP (free) though. I would gladly pay for an app that did the job. Huge storage is not an issue either since we would only have around a total of 300 songs for all of our gigs. Is anyone using a tablet on their gigs for backups?

Runs as shown in latest video on my Samsung Note but it is not enough. If we can't "regenerate a song" without reconnecting it's just a listening/practice tool...But a very cool one! Why not add the 2 ear training games as well?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
