This is a new effort using the great sounding Dire Real guitar.
I wish I could have Mark Knolfler over to lay down some lyrics. I really love his Brothers in Arms album.
Hope you like it.

Maybe it's just me...but that bass really booms so much...it distracted me from the arrangement.

Great song!

Nice Chops!

But I have to agree with Sundance. The bass really booms. Tame that and you’ll have a keeper.

Really nice guitar. Way to go.

Only suggestion, sometimes there is too much going on with the piano and guitar even a couple of clashes chord wise. Maybe you could simplify the piano a little IMHO.

ditto on the bass boom. it startled me. you could try separating the piano and guitar by panning them to opposite sides. may solve the conflict. nice job overall.

Thanks for sharing--I have to say I agree with the comments about the bass and the piano/guitar issues.

Well thank you all for the critique. I was experimenting with the bar settings to make it sound not so canned, and the bass startled me too. It was not supposed to do what it did, where it did. Sometimes after four hours of fiddling, one just kind of renders it. . . I will re work it and re-do the bass, and pan the guitar to -25 and piano to +25 or something.

Thank all of you. This forum is soooo loaded with talent, that sometimes I cringe when I upload something. I want it to be worthy of all of the great help I have gotten since December. Have you noticed, my questions have diminished by 80%? LOL.

I just bought a Behringer 802 for $56.00 new, and I love it. Vocals will be next week maybe. Without the "distraction" of vocals, it is harder to make an instrumental interesting, without being repetitious.

Hi Gene,

I love the feel of the song. It's very restful. Well done!

Hi Noel;
Haven't seen you on for a while. You have probably been busy. I have since corrected the things that were suggested. I'm still not happy with the bass part. But I have been fighting with it for a week now. I'm about ready to copy the chords to the clipboard, and go to File/New and paste. Have you ever had a song that just seemed to have GHOST instruments, that would not follow whatever you plugged in? Sometimes you fiddle so much, that there is stuff in there that you can't remember what you did, and can't erase it, can't control it? Gotta love computers. If not for them, I'd be yelling at the bass player!! LOL. .
By the way, until I get a song as good as your "Dreamin' Bout Dancin'", I will not be happy. I listen to that about once a week!

Hi Gene,

Since school started again, and I'm back teaching, there's very little time left for me to do any songwriting. I try to get out BIAB whenever I have a spare minute or two and do a little bit.

I know exactly what you mean when you talk about working with a mix; listening, changing, listening more, changing more, etc, etc, etc. There comes a point when the brain just closes down, I think. So many times I have come up with a sound/mix/arrangement that really grabs me at the time but when I listen to it the following day, it sounds wrong. These days, I don't work longer than 30 minute blocks when I'm adding the finishing touches. I've found that it helps me keep my objectivity. I also keep most of the earlier versions of my BIAB files, too. That way I can go back to any point in time. By the time that one of my songs is getting close to that elusive "done", I'll have around 50 - 100 BIAB versions saved. While is seems a lot, the BIAB files are not that big.

Thanks for your continued listening to Dreamin' About Dancin'. It's one of my favourites, too. Like you, I use it as my model for balances, sounds, etc. Galen Breen at Gatorhole studios did a good job with that one! Maybe one day, I'll be able to accomplish this in BIAB/RB. Now that they have RealTracks, there's not reason why I can't!

Regards,
Noel

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
