OP Ovid Enthusiast O Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 26	I want to open a midi file and mute or change some instruments, and then burn that to a wave CD. I have a Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth, and it works fine with MIDI files. Sometimes I want the Audio file without the lead instrument or I want to change an instrument sound/patch. Thank You.

Andrew - PG Music PG Music Staff Joined: May 2002 Posts: 7,091 Victoria, BC	Hello Ovid, I suggest using either RealBand or PowerTracks Pro Audio for this. When you open the MIDI file, you'll have each instrument on a separate track, and you can mute each one as needed. I would suggest, if you have the Roland VSC-DXi (included with Band-in-a-Box), use this rather than the GS Wavetable. This will sound better, and will make converting the MIDI file to audio much easier, via the Audio menu \| Merge audio and DXi tracks to stereo wave file. If using the GS Wavetable as your MIDI Output Driver, you will need to render the file to wave by recording it in real-time. Once you have the wave file, you can burn that to create an audio CD, using either the simple CD burning application MINIBurn included with the program, or with a third party application. Maewyn Newbie M Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 11	I'd certainly recommend Power Tracks, unfortunately the Roland VSC is no longer included (Grrr... ), but if you have soundfont capability (assuming you'd like something better than MS Wavetable), PT will render and burn for you...And so much more
