Please please please, can the next upgrade include a modification to the Jukebox so that it doesn't disable when I press, PAUSE or STOP buttons. Playing as a 'one man band' on stage means the less things you have to worry about, the better. I love the auto NEXT feature of the Jukebox, but when I PAUSE (to chat to audience) I loose Jukebox function - Nightmare! as it means extra keystrokes to continue with show
Thanks

Try this, it works for me.

>Open Prefs (Preferences)
>Put a check mark in the box beside "Pause Play Until MIDI or Key received."

The Juke Box will advance to the next song on your list (I create sets using the Favorites function,) but it won't start the song until you play a note, hit your spacebar, or (this is what I do) step on your USB footswitch that is programmed to start the song.

I got it from Delcom here: http://www.delcomproducts.com/products_usbfsw.asp and it works great. That way you can chat or play an intro or any part of the song without BIAB before the band joins you.

Good luck!

Jim - you are a legend!
That worked a treat, you have just taken loads of stress out of my stage show now.
Thanks very much mate, and for the link.
Best of luck back to you and your act!

I have been asking for an improvement like this for years. I already use the "pause until midi or key" option which doesn't go far enough.

The problem is that if you accidently stop a song e.g. by hitting space bar, then you still disable the juke box right in the middle of a performance. What is needed is a "freeze" option for the Jukebox so that you cannot lose you place in the Jukebox sequence if you hit the wrong key.

Hi Tony
Yes agreed, you are correct. Jims 'fix' is a good work around solution, but the Jukebox functionality really needs to be addressed to make it practical in the 'real' working musicians world.
The Jukebox preferences should have options to assign keys strokes to enable PAUSE and PLAY without loosing the Jukebox function, not only in-between songs, but also during the song itself.
Come on PG Music, how about some comments from you?

I agree with Tony and Paul - the Jukebox should offer pause and resume functions that don't cause you to "lose your place." There have been occasions when I accidentally hit my footswitch during a song and it was a real mess, very embarrassing. I had to reopen the favorites list, pick the song in the set where I wanted to resume, and restart the jukebox. Of course, the song started over from the beginning even though before my glitch, I may have been half way through the song (or more). Maybe not a huge problem in a background music performance, but in a church praise & worship set, it's very disruptive.

This would be a great and welcome addition in a future update. Very much needed.

Yes, Yes. Anything that will help Jukebox become goof-proof. Such is necessary for live gigging.

Here is another way the jukebox could be made much better.

At the moment you can only select an actual directory to form the song list. This means you have to create a special directory and either copy or move the songs from wherever they are stored. Sometimes I will alter a song while rehearsing the jukebox and now I have two versions of the same song.

It would be better if you could create a jukebox song list and leave the files wherever they are stored, simply name the list and BIAB would create say a .JBX file. Then when you activate the JBX file BIAB would simply access the songs whever they are stored. This way there is no need to create special directories and copy files and you could save as many JBX files as you want.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
