Does any of you have experience with Ozone for mix and mastering in RB?

How do you feel about it and can it be used as other FX plug ins? (I have an odd problem when writing posts, some time my cursor locks up???)

How come the short answers :-)
speaking for myself, I was just bein' a wiseguy. I figure RHARV was too, so I one-upped him
but, on a more serious note: the way you phrase a question can determine the quality of answer you get.
If you want a simple one word answer (limiting the other person's ability to beat around the bush) then ask a closed-ended question (your question was closed-ended... in other words, the actual question you asked was whether anybody had used the product, which can only be answered "yes" or "no" effectively closing the opportunity to say more )
But if you want an explanation, then phrase it as an open-ended question. (one that CAN'T be answered with a simple yes or no)
So, the answer to the question "Why the short answers?" is "because that's the way you phrased the question."
words that make a question closed-ended: HAS THIS BEEN DONE..?, (yes) HAVE YOU EVER...? (yes), WHO...? (Bill) IS THERE...?(uh-huh) WHEN...? (yesterday)
words that make a question open-ended: HOW...?, WHY...? PLEASE EXPLAIN... WHAT IS THE REASON FOR...?

All that and still no answer! Then like a lightning bolt I realized the answer was plain to see.
Just check Pats info at the bottom. "Ozone 5"
So here goes, Pat, how does ozone 5 work with both BiaB, and RB?
Lenovo Win 10 16 gig ram, Mac mini with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2022, Realband, Harrison Mixbus 32c version 9.1324, Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app, Komplete 49 key controller.

oddly enough, mixing and mastering are things I still do in Sonar (with the assumption that with a 64 bit program I can access more of my ram for plugins etc)
but that may be unnecessary because I don't even use Ozone until the project is mixed down to a WAV, at which point the other plugins are out of the picture. The only reason I do it in Sonar is because I'm already there after mixing down to the WAV.
Ozone appears to have a fairly small footprint. I will experiment with it today in RB and report back.

Hi Pat!
All of my tracks are waves (from rehearsings) and I hoped that mixing and mastering could be somewhat automated by ozone, I have eventually had some success tampering with the vocal by doubling it, pitch altered and experimented with reverb and delay, I hoped that some of these little tricks were packaged in ozone, but maybe I'm all wrong in this assumption :-)

Mixing and mastering are different
mixing is normally considered to be the tweaking of individual tracks to separate the frequencies, apply track effects, panning, set track volume etc etc...
mastering is done to the final mixdown wav, at which time there aren't any individual tracks anymore. In fact mastering is technically done to a whole set of songs so they flow well on the same CD
By metaphor, mixing is kinda like getting the kids cleaned up for the family photo, and mastering is like touching up the snapshot of how they looked at that moment, making it neatly framed and glossy
The things you mentioned (vocal doubling, reverb, pitch adjusting, delay etc) are typically done to tracks, so that's part of the mixing process.
The company that makes OZONE for mastering also makes a mixing product called ALLOY2... here's a link to a previous thread and some more info: http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/showflat.p...true#Post396457
like Ozone, it comes with a lot of presets which can somewhat automate aspects of the mixing process. But it's kind of pricey considering the fact that it duplicates functionality you already have in the plugins that came with BIAB
The link leads to a product description. Check it out and see if that sheds any light on what you're trying to accomplish.

I really didn't know how else to answer; you asked if others use it .. I said yes. It is a great tool for mastering, and can be used in mixing, but there was a lot to assume about the question before answering with anything more than 'yes'. Quote:

In the most open interpretation the question could mean 'does it work in RB?' (answer = yes) In the most direct interpretation the question could mean 'Do you use it?' (answer = yes)
Other than that I'd be guessing on how you wanted to use it, or if you had a problem with it .. so I figured 'yes' would keep the conversation going. I wasn't trying to be a jerk, just didn't have any more to go on.
Now that I know a little more; It doesn't do pitch shift. It does lots of other stuff very well. There is usually a free trial available so you can try it and see if you like it.

I know you're not being a jerk, you've always been helping, and you've indeed been helping me many times. The reason for my imperfect question was that sometimes my cursor locks up and I'm not able to write any further, this solely happens when writing in PGforums. But being eager to learn about Ozone I simply sent the Q anyway, so if you have any clue regarding this strange editor problem I'd be glad to hear about it :-)

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
