Hello,
I discovered BiaB recently when visiting a friend, and have been impressed, i'm currently considering purchasing it.
But before doing so, I wanted to know if it supports the following feature :
The purpose of the purchase is to help my young son to improve his reading skill & rythm by playing the melody score while BiaB plays it too.
My son plays a Bb clarinet which is a transposing instrument, thus when a C is written on the melody score, if my son plays it, it's not a C that is heard.
Is it possible to configure BiaB to add/remove half tones when playing without transposing the written score ?
Like this, BiaB would play the same sound as my son plays what he reads on the score .
As my son is still too yound to real time transpose the score to +2 half tones to make the sound match, that would be fantastic is BiaB could be configured to do this .
I really hope this is possible, as this is a fantastic tool for music beguinners .

Yes there is a way to do that in the Notation Options window - Opt > Preferences > Notation and it will give you the various transposition choices

It's also there in the Practice feature, Bflat tenor or Bflat trumpet. The tenor is an octive higher. There are also buttons to go up and down an octive.
The score on the screen is transposed, but is played in the right key, so if in the case of a Bflat instrument, the song would be in C but transposed to D which will sound right.
You can then print the score transposed. Note that thousands of songs are available on various sites, so something simple like What a Wonderful World, he can transpose into a good key to practice in, then once proficient change the key. Thus you get a slow song, which you can slow down more, a whole band, award winning drummers and bassists and guitarists, along with your own instrument, you just need good earphones or a sound system that works well.
I learned the Euphonium and Baritone horn 6 years ago, and I was well over 50 when I started. An hour a day and you have unlimited potential.
You can mute the melody or listen to it then mute it or play along.

Thanks a lot for your fast answers .
I'm now confident BiaB is a good choice for my son .
Which version do you advice for a 6 years old beguinner which as I said will mainly use BiaB for reading scores and playing clarinet while BiaB plays it too , mainly for improving real time reading and timing .

With your situation it would be nice if you could get the basic 2009 version (pro BIAB and RB) without the add ons

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
