This falls squarely in the category of "nobody will ever believe it" but I thought I'd post it anyway, on the off chance that somebody else may encounter the same problem.

Here's the situation:

I'm sitting in the motorhome basking in the warm winter sunshine (I know, "oh woe is he"),
and I'm working on some BIAB stuff with this set up -

- ASUS EP121 tablet (has 2 USB 2.0 ports and is running Win7 Home)
- An ASUS BlueTooth mini keyboard (came with the tablet, is actually branded ASUS but the back says "Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard 6000)
- one of the USB ports holds the BIAB 2013 drive
- the other USB port holds a 4-port USB 2.0 port-replicator
- one of those ports contains the dongle for a run-of-the-mill wireless mouse
- another of those ports holds a Sandisk Cruzer 32 GB thumb drive

The problem is with the keyboard.
A quick trip to an EP121 forum assured me that I wasn't the only one having problems with it.
There were many others who would also lose the "connection" to the tablet.

When mine would stop communicating, I would go through (after considerable mumbling under my breath)
any one of a few "remedies" to get it working again, including just putting the tablet into sleep mode, then re-awakening it, which DIDN'T work.

One particular day, after having this happen 2 or 3 times in a one-hour span,
I decided to just leave it. I didn't turn anything off, just put the tablet into sleep mode,
and walked away.

Several hours later, after I had cooled off, I came back, awakened the tablet, and the keyboard worked just fine!!!

Somewhere in all of the above rigamarole, I found the solution.
I can now get the keyboard to talk to the tablet anytime it decides not to.
I'll give you 3 guesses to see if you can/could have come up with MY solution.

Here's a couple of hints:
- it has nothing to do with any settings on either the tablet or the keyboard
- it takes 2 or 3 minutes to complete the task.

I'll post my solution after some of you have had a chance to think about it and post something.

Good luck!
LLOYD S

I would guess heat. You are cooling it down somehow in those couple of minutes.

The only things I can think of that take 2 -3 minutes are brewing tea, and heating something in the microwave. Thus, I will guess you nuke the keyboard for 2 - 3 minutes. It will drive out any moisture and make the key contacts more supple. And if you believe that...

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
