A little shanty about the Gloucester fishermen. All RT's. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12253818The Fisherman's Daughter ©2013 Robert Randall Burke Heave-ho Mind how you go If you want to make it to Gloucester Hold fast Pull with your last And you'll marry the fisherman's daughter. The summer was long way out on the Banks We've come about, heading for home Safe ashore, he'll wander no more For he'll marry the fisherman's daughter. The lighthouse will welcome us home from the sea The wives will be waitin' ashore This will be the last trip for thee For you'll marry the fisherman's daughter. Trust in God And a hold full of cod The Banks never seen such a slaughter With brass in our pockets And a girl on each arm But he'll marry the fisherman's daughter. The summer was long way out on the Banks We've come about, heading for home Safe ashore, he'll wander no more For he'll marry the fisherman's daughter.

Mr. Robert Randall Burke,
You step it up a bit more each time.
One of the best mixes I've heard here. Ever. The writing is gorgeous. "We've come about" by itself would make this well written. The vocal is beautiful - one leg and a quilt, I imagine.
What drum style is that? All RTs? you had to have played the opening lead instrument (what is it?). And where do the strings come from? I can't find the seagull track...
Not sure it gets any better than this.

Thanks for the kind remarks Floyd. Here are the RT's (I didn't use the fiddle): Key=C , Tempo 135, Length (m:s)=2:57 No intro. 130 bar chorus, from bar 1 to bar 130. Repeat x1 chorus No Melody No Soloist track. Song is saved with Volume, Pan, Reverb, Chorus, Bank0, Style is _POPWLZ2.STY (Pop Waltz w/ Piano and Fiddle) RealTracks in style: ~1178:Bass, Electric, PopWaltz Ev 120 RealTracks in style: ~1188:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopWaltz Ev 120 RealTracks in style: ~1182:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming PopWaltz Ev 120 RealTracks in style: ~1179:Fiddle, Background PopWaltz Ev 120 RealDrums in style: PopRockWaltzEv,SideStickHat,Ride: a: Sidestick. Hi Robert,
tune and lyrics are like a forgotten folksong. They transport a special mood. And your good voice and the interesting mix make it a very enjoyable listen.

Aye and adding another +1.

They said it all. I can only be redundant. It works melodically, lyrically, RealTrack choice and mix wise. It's all there and then some. Well done....very well done!!

Great job!! Your voice reminds me so much of Gordon Lightfoot. And, this song is right up there with his "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald". Loved it.

Hi Bob,
I'm late to catch up with your latest song! I'm so glad I didn't miss it. It's truly excellent. There's a clarity to the production on this one that really has the stamp of "mega-professional". I really enjoyed listening to it. The natural minor mode always appeals to me.
All the best, Noel

Great song, loved the vocal, guitar, background instrumental, but the percussion sounded too American for a song that was definitely Irish and chanty...the Celtic percussion would fit and round this out...I think you have a beautiful song there in basic form!

Beautifully done Bob!! I guess you'd call that a traditional folk style? Reminded me of THE WRECK OF THE EDMUND FITZGERALD. Everything in this is awesome-write, vocals, arrangement, production, the whole nine!! Great stuff! Take care. Greg

Wow! Seriously! Where to start? Your vocal is a perfect fit for this song. Your tone is spot on! As far as the music behind the voice, the choice of feel, and the instruments compliment it SO well! I'm not sure what this style of music really is, but I have always like how it compliments the theme completely. It's a "mood" mood that's created. You captured it! To me, it reminds me of "The Downeaster Alexa" by Billy Joel. Yup, I just compared you to Billy Joel! Great job!

Caaron,
Thanks for listening and the kind words. I'll have to dig up that Billy Joel song. I remember seeing him in a college cafeteria after the release of his first LP ("Cold Spring Harbor"). He was incredible.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
