May we all maintain the sense of humor about ourselves that John demonstrated through his forum posts here, even in the face of fairly critical loss of hearing over a relatively short period of time - based on his forum post content.

John was clearly a guy who had been in the trenches. When he talked about something, it wasn't because he'd read about it, but because he'd actually done it.
And he was still battling on, each day. Even when he couldn't seem to find the words, he'd post something. It seemed to me that his posts were acts of defiance - he was making it through another day, and fighting on.
John fought the good fight, and set a unique example.
Although the Catholic in my echos jazzmandan's prayer, I can't see John as "resting" in peace.
Peace, yes.
Resting, not so much.
My condolences and prayers to all who knew him.

Sandra and Matt, I would like to go to John's FB page and express my personal heartfelt condolences to his wife Diane. I didn't find him yesterday. How is he listed?

Don, that's a good question, since I'm not a Facebook expert. His wife posted on his Facebook page, which is simply "John Conley, London, Ontario". I don't know what you may be able to see if you aren't already a friend, but try to find it; you may be able to leave a message.

I just checked (John and I were not FB friends) and it appears that you can read quite a bit on his site, including the condolences listed there, but you can't post unless you are friends (or at least a friend of a friend who has already posted).

Very sad, he will be missed. You could tell from some of his posts he wasn't telling us everything but the indications were there that his time was getting short. I think he was probably the most literate person on this forum. He certainly had a way with words and I for one will miss reading him.

I couldn't leave a direct message for Diane Conley on Facebook so I hope that she will see this:
"Diane, I hope that you will see this.
John was one-of-a-kind. No one knows that better than you.
John brought a lot of joy to his countless musician friends internationally through the marvels of the internet and PG Music forums in particular. I was always drawn to read his fabulous wit and knowledge of music combined with his constant willingness to help others. That wit and knowledge will leave a void in the hearts and minds of hundreds of his musician friends around the world. That's all that any of us can hope to accomplish in one lifetime. In that sense, John has conquered the world. I am extremely proud to have known and loved him.
Don Gaynor"

Wow - I'm very sad to hear this.
I always looked forward to reading his posts, laughing at his jokes, and really enjoyed reading his stories.
I wish his friends and family the best during this hard time.

My first look in on any forums for a few very busy weeks now and so saddened to read this.
Such a positive soul in horrendous circumstances.
My very deepest condolences to John's family.
Thanks Sandra for letting us know. He'll be missed.

Between his numerous forum posts and a handful of pithy private messages I felt like I knew him well, even though we never met. "Ars longa, vita brevis" was his forum signature, which should be a reminder to any of us who need it to do what you can while you can. Bon voyage, John.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
