Ed,
Not sure what manual u hv. I bought the 2012 User's Guide hard copy with 2012.5. Has 298 pages. Invaluable.

Any way I looked for it in the main Help menu. This is where it is. Not easy to find..I searched for the character string in My Computer and it couldn't find it!!

....anyways....
Step 1. Click on the main Help facility.
Step 2. In the Search field, type in "drum grooves".
Step 3. In the list that opens up look for "Version 2012 Tutorial". It has a Rank #46 against it..whatever that means, and is almost at the end of the list. NOT "Version 2012 New" which has a rank of #32.

Step 4. Click on it. Then in the help pages that open up scroll almost to the bottom and look for the subheading "EZ Selection of Drum Grooves". Just before the 'Woodshed Tempo Feature" description.
Follow the help instructions.

Good luck.
I can't help but laugh...I am just discovering this wonderful software and I am already giving people directions!!! I can almost feel people like Noel and Matt chuckling.

Excellent find and speaking of tips, I would repost this in the Tips and Tricks forum if it's not already there.

Even though I've been using the software for years I didn't know this or maybe I just forgot it, who knows. Most of us are part timers with busy lives doing other things so there's tons of things like this hiding all over the place.

Keep looking and find more cool stuff!

Bob

If you search "Help" you will find this:

EZ selection of "DrumGrooves" has been added, which are different grooves within drum styles. RealDrums styles with a caret (^) at the end of the name have several "DrumGrooves" available. Now there is an easy way to select the different grooves within the song. Simply right-click on a bar number, and you see a menu of the DrumGrooves within the style. So, for example, you could easily switch from the "side stick/hihat" groove, to "snare/hihat" to "snare/Ride."

This works with RealDrums styles that have variations available. These are RealDrums with names that end with a caret (^) like CountryPopEv16^. This style has 9 Grooves available...

I'm not chuckling at all. That's exactly what you're supposed to be doing, sharing your experience and new-found knowledge with others.

Hi Bob,
First, thanks for mentioning this forum. I didn't know about it. Too fast with my forefinger on the mouse and going directly to the Windows forum smile

Yes, I agree that the re-posting the thread in the T & T forum is a good idea. But the "whole thread" should be moved there, not just my post. I don't know how to do that. Will send a message to a moderator to request the move?

Hi thailoneus,

I'm very late in finding this thread. My apologies, I would have replied sooner if I'd seen it.

I didn't chuckle, at all. I went straight to the manual and had a read.

It's great when people share their tips and tricks. As I said to Mac in a post just moments ago, there is always something new for me to learn with BIAB/RB.

I remember once reading about part-markers and drum grooves, but then I forgot about them. I'm embarrassed to admit that I've never tried them. You've inspired me! If you hadn't made your post, I would have gone on ignoring them. Thank you for bringing these to my attention again smile

All the best,
Noel

The manual is easiest accessed via the Start menu.

It's also possible to find this pdf in the \bb folder. If you install updates directly over pre-existing installations, manuals for all versions you've had will be there, too.

Regards,
Noel

Your tip even works in the Mac version of BiaB 2013 (German). The complete instruction can be found on page 79 of the manual.

Thank you for sharing,

Joachim

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
