Just got around to installing BIAB 2014 due to holiday travels.
BIAB installed and I was able to register it just fine.
But when I started Realband it indicated that it was not registered and so I entered the SN and clicked register.
But it failed saying that it didn't have permissions to write in the programs folder. But I installed using the default c:/bb path over the top of my BIAB 2013 installation.
This is the reason that I dislike the "product activation" junk. It works fine until it doesn't. And I understand all the reasons for using this approach.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you resolve it?
These days I use Realband more than I do BIAB itself so it is more critical for me to have Realband registered so it won't die on me.

Resolved the registration failure by dumbing down the security on the RealBand folder (where RealBand was actually installed).
Had to give users Modify (and Write) permissions. It is interesting how it was able to install but could not activate because of the permissions.
Just FYI if someone else has a similar issue.

Installing is an action you initiated. The program initiates writing the activation code into the folder.That's how malware gets installed.

True,
It was interesting that BIAB installed (and wrote the registration) with no problems.
The steps were exactly the same. Started BIAB 2014 filled in the SN and clicked to register. No problems.
Then started RealBand and did the same thing and hit the permissions problem.
In any case the problem is resolved for now.

At least it gave you a decent message about why it failed. This was a clue to figuring it out. If more people actually read them it would make things easier for them.
Maybe you registered BiaB while running as administrator but did Realband as a logged in User (with less privileges)? I could see something like that happening.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
