This is my fourth song in the FAWM Challenge, Blood Soaked NailsMY FAWM 2014 Here is a little trick you can try at home and see how it works for you. Mix your song then 1. Place your mastering plugin into the output of your daw and get the volume level you want 2, Make a group channel and then send every instrument to this group. 3. On insert 1 of group channel place an eq with as many bands as you feel need correcting/ correct any frequency problems. 4. on insert 2 of group channel place another eq, on this one do a High Pass filter at 20Hertz and a low pass filter at 20000K 5. on insert 3 of the group channel place a compressor, 1. Set the attack at 150 2. the release at 1500 3. set ratio at 1 up to 1.5 (TASTE) 4. bring the threshold down until you have a 1 db reduction only. 5. Finally use the make up gain on the compressor, to raise the output (Make sure you do not clip)to be safe you can allow a -1db to -.5 db. What this does is sofly holds the mix level, bringing the lower portions up and the higher levels stay more consistent; so it goes into the Mastering Plugin as hot as it can and more consistent. Which means you do not have to smash it as much with the mastering plugin, it makes for a cleaner sound. Hope this helps!

Bluegrass gospel..... love it.
nice first song of the day.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Robert,
Nice job on this. Good mix and good choice of instruments, tastefully done.
And nice of you to explain some about your recording/mastering process.
This is one that might help folks if you listed the style and instruments. Was it 3/4 or 6/8? Would like to know what you used to get the kick on 1 and then snare on 4 (or 1?)...

You mastering guys are waaaaay ahead of me. A tweaked Ozone preset is about as far as I've gone.
Nice tune and mix....looks like you're well on schedule!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
