Later, Danny, I've covered the song since I first heard it while I was vocalist and younger audience "draw" in a "Standards Band" called The Arrowhead Trio +2 in Northern Minnesota. I even remember the the place where I first heard it, Lake View Tavern. I was probably 17 but the Sheriff never carded members of the band. It's yesterday that's a blur! I messaged the Rebold Manor Administrator yesterday regarding your visit and entertaining we FOIs (Flatulent Old Irishmen) on the 27th and she was thrilled. I'm counting the days, mon ami!

I absolutely love your part of the world and I remember Country Music being very popular in Germany. In fact, Country Music was the only genre being played on AFRS (Armed Forces Radio Service) when I was there. NCO clubs got more variety in entertainment but, I saw and met the top names in Country Music.
Charlie Pride had just broken the unofficial "color barrier" of Country Music when he came to my NCO Club. He's a fabulous entertainer. The naysayers were struck speechless.
A humerus music-related experience was when going to local bars and hearing flawless covers of American Rock & Roll, only to learn later that they didn't know a single word of English, they had learned the hit songs phonetically without understanding what they were singing.
Fond memories, my friend.
