I found another one of those Remix Contests this week... seems most people submit Rave/Club type entries - not my cup-o-tea honestly. So, for this one I tried to work up a bit of that famous Muscle Shoals sound - I don't think I got there but it is a lot different than the original artists track. For your amusement ;-)

Citizens - Made Alive (Shaved Shoals Remix)

Everything except the vocals was done in Real Band;

Trap: RD Blues Rock Even ^1
Bass: RT 909 Elec Blues Pop
Guit: RT 1718 E.Rhythm Texas Blues (Brent)
H-B3: RT 673 Hammond B3 (BB Background)
EPno: RT 2157 Vintage Funky Groove
TSax: RT 403 Tenor Motown 60's...

Well, there you have it... a hot mess in some areas. ;-)

Here's a link to the Original composition for comparison;

Cheers!
Don

Hey Don, you did a good job here. Good choice of instruments and a good mix.

Thumbs up, I love the variety of music folks are doing with BIAB.

I like your version much, much more than the original.

Thanks for the feedback! I've submitted it as-is. While I don't think the production value is quite the same as the original I'm still amazed every day about how much we can accomplish with just BIAB & RB.

I know lot's of folks are pining for 64-bit DAW's and plug-ins and oodles of memory... I guess I just don't need them for most of what I'm trying to accomplish as a Producer / Arranger. Most of my RB mixes are almost totally dry anyway.

I suppose if I were a better player trying to improve my chops or were looking to PG for Pro-Tools type functionality I'd have a beef. IMO, they have a perfect niche as-is... why complicate a fairly robust tool with bolt-ons most of us will use infrequently, if at all?

Again, thanks for the feedback, yielding the soapbox ;-)

Cheers,

Don

Uncommon RealTracks Instruments for Band-in-a-Box®

Today is Uncommon Instrument Awareness Day.

Examples of "uncommon instruments" include anything from Spoons to the Wheelharp to the Singing Ringing Tree, and more!
(there's probably more instruments out there that we DON'T know than we DO know)

Although our RealTracks collection doesn't include many 'uncommon instruments', we do offer some pretty unique choices!

On top of the usual varieties we offer for Piano, Guitar, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Bass, Tuba, Trumpet, Trombone, and more - our RealTracks library also offers a nice selection of Shakuhachi and Kalimba - there's even a Koto RealTrack included in Set 212!

Kalimba: RealTracks Set 271
Koto: RealTracks Set 212
Shakuhachi: RealTracks Sets 193 & 212

Review - Loops-with-Style PAK 2 for Band-in-a-Box® 2020

"Dr. Dave" Walker is at it again! You may remember his recent reviews of both Band-in-a-Box 2020 for Mac and Xtra Styles PAK 9 - now he has something to say about our Loops-with-Style PAK 2 - check it out: Click here to read...

With money being tight for most musicians, this is a wonderful gift for those on a limited budget. At $29, it offers months and years of fun and experimentation, bringing many ideas to fruition as songs with enough variation so that your audience doesn’t jump to "aw, that's a computer!" while still keeping the power of the software in your hands.

Thank you again Dr. Dave for the great review!
