First of all I would like to apologize to all of you whose songs I missed. The last couple of months life has gotten in the way of my participation. Hopefully y'all understand how that can happen. So I will jump back in and plan to stay awhile. These lyrics were inspired by a quote from the Portuguese motivational speaker Jose Micard Teixeria. Just something I ran across. It struck a chord with me so to speak. ROCK ON! Comments/Suggestions encouraged. http://tommyadamsmusic.com/musichttp://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12935749RealTracks in style: ~388:Bass, Electric, Metal Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 698:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm ElecRockDirty Ev 120 (A:muted) RealTracks in style: 694:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm ElecRockArp Ev 120 RealTracks in style: 697:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm ElecRockDirty Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 1563:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm BritBluesInvasionJohn Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 696:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm ElecRockArp Ev 120 (B:heavy) RealDrums: RealDrums in Song: RockHardModernEv8^2-a:Snare, HiHat , b:Snare, Open HiHat I Can't Lie I no longer have any patience for certain things Not because I am arrogant it just an awakening I reached a point in my life where I can’t waste any time be negative or critical or anything along those lines I’ve lost the will to please those who don’t like me And smile at those that don’t smile back or act with civility i cannot coexist with those that lie and cheat I don’t have to tolerate blatant dishonesty i can’t lie I can’t lie I can’t lie to myself anymore i won’t waste one more minute on those that manipulate Academic arrogance is another thing that I hate People who are rigid and inflexible who fail to compromise Who are cynical and make demands have fallen in my eyes I’ve lost the will to please those who don’t like me And smile at those that don’t smile back or act with civility i cannot coexist with those that lie and cheat I don’t have to tolerate blatant dishonesty i can’t lie I can’t lie I can’t lie to myself anymore ©2014 Thomas Adams

Hi Tommy.
Loved it.
I listened on the 'phones at first, but soon realised that this was a track which needed to be played LOUD on the main monitors. A great rock track and even more of a treat because we don't get so much of this stuff on the showcase.
Just wonderful from the start to the great ending.
ROG.

Welcome back Tom and, wow, what a re-entry!! That is an exceptional rocker in ALL aspects.
The lyric is perfect and speaks to a point that many of us reach in life. I GET it. And, man, that guitar is cookin' and hittin' the note as Gregg says.
Then we have an arrangement and mix that support your vocal so well. EVERYTHING works and works well.

Really great song! Your vocals really shine on this one. Really like the guitar, too. Glad I got to hear this one.

I love this Tom!! The music and arrangement (and of course the guitar) are great. But, what I like the most is the lyrics. We're probably in the same age range (45 to 60) and I love the idea of being unwilling to play the game and put up with the crap. Sometimes my attitude gets me in trouble but I feel like sometimes you just got to let it out. I can't wait until I'm retired (have my FU money)--then people will really hear from me. I admire old people who don't have to apologize for speaking their mind. I like the lyric about "academics". I live in a town full of them, and they can be the most narrow minded people in the world. I could go on and on, BUT my point is clear--Great song!! Take care. Greg

Tom,
Good write! Mighty thought-provoking for a hard rocker!
"i can’t lie I can’t lie I can’t lie to myself anymore"
I really like how you came into your hook from one angle and finished it with another... Interesting from start to finish.
Love the production. I am not sure we have heard this type of a rocker done before. And, SO well done it is! It is always good to see (hear) someone take BIAB to a new place, a new level... to show one more thing that it can do in the right hands... You captured that sound perfectly.
Your vocal is strong. I would have liked to hear more reverb (a "dark" one?) on it (a personal choice, of course). The piano sort of "peeked out" a couple of times - would have liked to hear more of that, too (just me, you know - I like a strong piano...)
Super enjoyable. Listened a bunch of times - that guitar combination is still pounding in my head.
Great to have you back.

Nice nice nice rocker .....
I like this. Nice lyric writing too.... I feel the same way for the most part.....I don;t have the time for dealing with idiots and arguing points with them. I shake my head and walk away most of the time.
Mix sounded good. I'd liked to have heard the final mix more of a stadium rock sound.... but that's just a personal thought.
The tracks all sound good..... guitars are nice and crunchy just like I like-um..... I could feel the heat off the rhythm guitar amp's tubes.... and your lead solo was spot on for the genre. (perhaps a tad more reverb)
Nice energy through out... yeah I like this.

Hi Tommy,
Good to see you back on the forum.
A really good rock song! Like the lyrics too! I like rock very much and this one made feel like singing along. As far as I'm concerned you might even "shout it out" a bit more here and there, e.g. at the end of the last 2 sentences of a verse. Thanks for posting.

floyd, Glad you liked it. The vocal was purposely lacking any reverb. Just a little snapback delay and lot's of saturation. Some of the rock things I have been listening to have had no reverb, so I thought I'd give it a try. It's way better than my first version which sounded like a monster in a cave. I made a bet with myself that you would say- more piano. I won! Seriously when I turned it up it clogged up the mix and I wanted a guitar driven sound anyway so I thought the peeking worked OK. It's kind of a ghost effect like the high unison vocal. Just barely there. Thanks for sharing your observations. I always learn something. Tom Tommy you have been missed. And what a great track. Rock on! Seriously, I was loving every minute of it. Liked that ending too. Glad you're back.
Josie Josie, Glad to be back and always glad to hear from you. Glad you liked the ending. That actually developed out of a mistake like so many of my better moments do. Tom

Herb, thanks for listening and commenting. I understand what you are saying regarding stadium sound. I was experimenting a little taking off reverbs purposely. I have been noticing lately a lack of reverb in some of the things I have been listening to. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Thanks again, Tom

Hi Tommy, Welcome back You have been missed. As Janice and Bud said, "Wow, what a re-entry!!" This song is spectacular. The lyrics are exceptional and so easy to relate to. I have to admit, though, that when I read the phrase "academic arrogance", I turned red because that's something I might be guilty of every now and then! I've seen the error of my ways!!! I totally understand how life can get in the way of forums. For a few weeks, earlier this year, it was completely beyond me to be involved in the forum, too. I get it. Anyway ... This song was an incredible listen. You've shown the world just how fantastic BIAB is in the hands of someone who knows how to tweak and turn those dials to get the best out of music. Mega-awesome! All the best, Noel

Hey Tommy,
This tune comes at you. Compelling lyrics - where you gonna find a song with phrases like "academic arrogance?" - and you took that Sidewinder out of its case and let the fangs dig in. Professional and impressive as hell.

Hell's bells, I just found this. Must have missed it somehow. This is so stunning - and that's the truth... This is so much up my street it's banging on the front door. Wonderful Tommy, just wonderful. John John, OK, I'm stealing that front door line ! Thanks for finding this. I always like having you listen and comment. Tom

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
