I know this was covered before but I can't find it when I search for it.
I have a line that begins with two bars and then the next two bars (35 and 36) begin a new section in the song. I would like bars 35 and 36 to start a new line at the left of the page.
What command do I give BIAB to achieve this?
TIA

If you are referring to the fairly new feature that a new line is created in the Chord Sheet Window when you click on a bar to add a part marker, it only works with parts of three bars or more. Peter Gannon discussed this in a post very early in version 2009, maybe even during beta testing. A few of us mentioned we would like the ability to make even shorter sections of one or two bars.
I suggest you head over to the Wishlist and start a thread about this.

Thanks. Could you please clarify? I am using BIAB 2008.5, do I have any chance of using this feature?
Not sure what you mean by three bars or more, wouldn't most parts have three bars or more?

I don't remember if this was introduced with 2008.5 or 2009; it's pretty new. Anyway, Just try it.
As for clarification, maybe I didn't understand your post if you don't understand mine, but here goes:
I'm assuming that you have a typical song of 32 bars, so bar 33 starts a new section. In that case, you cannot start a new section (by a part marker) on bar 35. You could do it on bar 36, a minimum of three bars after the last one, and bar 36 would then start a new line. Or you could click on bar 33 until there are no section markers, and then a marker on bar 35 can start a new line.
Or are we talking about different things?

OK, but I'm not sure how it works. If I click on a bar, I can can cycle between part A and part B. I don't see an option to start a new line. And if this only would start a new line in Chord view it wouldn't help. I would need a new line in Print (lead sheet) view.

Well I don't think any of my songs are 32 bars <g>. The 1st part of my song lasts 34 bars. Second part begins at bar 35. But on the screen, bar 35 sits in the middle of the page, rather than at the beginning of a new line.
For now I solved the problem by deleting two empty bars and writing a note in the music (BIG letters) stating that ** This is a four bar break **.

I just opened up a new midi file into BIAB and see that yes indeed, new lines can be started whenever you wish in Chord view. I don't know how to do this myself yet however.
But as I mentioned, if it won't translate into being able to do the same in Notation/Print view, then it really isn't helpful for me.

My comments were limited to the Chord Sheet view. Printing and notation are another matter; as far as I can tell, there is no option that will cause a line break where there is a part marker. The best you can see is a double bar line. Wishlist?

Not worth the bother, Matt. The Leadsheet Window Options already have a flexible provision for controlling the number of bars on each line of your printout. Two minutes with that makes a nice result -- much more reliably than BiaB could guess what you meant by some maze of section markers.

So Larry, you're saying that I can tell BIAB to print 4 bars for each of the first two lines and just 2 bars for the third line and then 4 bars for the fourth line etc.?

Yes. Since the past couple of versions, you can produce a printout just as you like it.
Open the Lead Sheet window. In the upper left, click on the Options. The window you then see holds the key to everything you have been trying to do since you started posting questions: display of clefs, tracks, lyrics, etc. Use the Help screen constantly and study it.

That's great to hear!
The only problem is that I can't see how to do this. I did as you suggested above, looked where you said I should look. Studied the Help screen.
But nowhere did I see how I could limit how many bars are displayed per each line in the printout. Could you mention where in the Options window this setting is?
If I can do what you are suggesting, and I have no reason to doubt that I can, it is not obvious. This remains my biggest gripe about BIAB. So many of its features are not obvious.

It is at the top of the Notation Windows Options
Bars/Screen - (Help > Topics)
This option lets you to choose the number of bars per line for both the on-screen notation display and printing

Thanks for helping out jazzman.
I tried to make myself as clear as possible in my post above. The bars/screen feature that you have mentioned does not seem to address what I need.
I'll post it visually below:
/C /Am /Dm /G7 / /C /Am / /C /Em /Am /D7alt / /G /Em /Am /D7 /
Id' like to be able to print four lines like above. The setting you mention seems to be a global feature for the entire printed page.

The OP wants to vary the bars per line setting in notation view on a line by line basis. The closest way I see to do that is (from the default chord entry screen): Ctrl W=> options=>change the "new line each" setting to "part marker." Now the line breaks will be determined by the part markers. Since part markers were not primarily intended for notation purposes, that may or may not yield the desired result.
HTH -Ron
Edit - My post crossed the OP's clarification.

Enter
/C /Am /Dm /G7 / /C /Am /C /Em / /Am /D7alt /G /Em / /Am /D7 /
Select Fake Sheet Mode in the Lead Sheet window, enter 4,2,4 in the Lead Sheet options field 'Fakesheet bars/line' and you wind up with the following printout ->
/C /Am /Dm /G7 / /C /Am / /C /Em /Am /D7alt / /G /Em /Am /D7 /

We might be making too much of this and the answer could be very simple. My answer would be to click on the "S" to the right of the song title and select "sections on a new line". Of course, I could be way off base in interpreting your question. Later, Ray

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
