I did both (listen and watch) !
If I´m not mistaken this is
one of his absolute last tunes
(and one of his best too) !
It is an old man´s settlement
with his life....and in the end...
what do we have to carry with us ?
What have we really achieved in this world ?
Being 66 I consider myself young,
but every now and then (
nowadays maybe even more often than earlier)
you run into situations like this, especially
when your old schoolmates and aquaintances
are starting to walk into the unknown !
But Floyd, this might have sounded
a bit cynical, in reality I am an optimist
living one day a time thankful for
each new morning I can still jump out
of the bed and run around on my own two
feet !:))

I love the song and the performance was as good as it could get. Great sing and perfect fit for Mr. Cash.

What I always admired about this was Johnny's willingness to try a project with a hot young producer out of his genre. And it brought him a whole new generation of young fans.

PS. About throwing away the greats.... We did a special on the air when Conway Twitty died and you wouldn't believe the number of irate calls complaining "why didn't we play more of his music when he was alive". Today there are classic country stations and with the internet, streaming and youtube, depending on the strength of their fanbase of course, I think artists have a shot at more musical longevity now than they've ever had.
Some fans though have a "garden party" attitude. They only like the old hits and reject the newer stuff as the artist changes... I guess that's for the shrinks to decipher...

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
