Charlene and I wrote this Christmas song five years ago and it's sat around collecting dust as a BIAB midi file I didn't know quite what to do with. So finally here it is with all RT's. Merry Christmas. GOD IS WITH US Mary kissed her newborn baby As she gently laid him on the hay Shepherds on a nearby hillside Knelt in wonder as the angels sang Glory to God in the highest On earth peace goodwill to men The world rang in joyful harmony Child of heaven Son of Man Emmanuel God is with us Sing praises to our King Salvation has come to us Tell the story the Christ child brings Trumpets filled the air with music As angels' voices heralded Him Redemption so long awaited Born in a manger in Bethlehem Holy this child called Jesus Born of spirit a spotless lamb The world rang in perfect harmony Child of heaven Son of Man Emmanuel God is with us Sing praises to our King Salvation has come to us Tell the story the Christ child brings His name is Wonderful, Marvelous, Glorious, Comforter, Counsellor, Prince of Peace, All Mighty God ©2009 Josie Beck/Charlene Grant Hope you enjoy it. Josie

Really pretty and well-written song!! I think the choice of RTs is great-very celebratory vibe. It would be great to hear a gospel choir in the background. Very cool stuff!! Take care. Greg

Thank you very much Greg. Yeah, I wish I could have a real Gospel choir too. The Brooklyn Tabernacle is my favorite. If you like choirs and get a chance check this out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGl2DhiMINsJosie

Hi Josie, I agree with Greg and Charlie, this is beautiful. I really like the chorus. I found myself singing along with you without even realising I was doing so Also, the clarity of the backing and your singing is superb. I don't know what you have done but the overall sound is top notch, very professional! May Christmas be special for you and yours, Noel P.S. Thank you for the link for the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. I have not heard them before. Wow!!!! I don't know if you've ever heard the Oslo Gospel Choir. If you're curious follow this link.

I'm using the Eventide UltraChannel and Ultraverb along with Ozone and the new delay from NI. That Oslo Gospel Choir is great! I fell in love with big choirs back in the days of yore when I was chosen to represent my high school in the state choral festival. A famous guest conductor worked with us. It was one of those early life experiences with a lasting impression. Charlene and I love that you were singing along. Josie

Josie, Thanks for whole heartedly acknowledging your faith in your music! I like and respect that! This is a nice song that would play well in any church's Christmas service or on the radio during the season, or on somebody's CD or MP3 player as they worked around the house. I have tried using the horns and could never get them to fit for me, but I thought they worked very well in this song, especially on the verse "Child of heaven, Son of Man", as the melody and the horns were a good match. I also really liked "His name is Wonderful, Marvelous, Glorious, Comforter, Counsellor, Prince of Peace, All Mighty God" Your mix is very clear... basically everything about the song works for me! I sometimes listen with a guitar and try to figure out the chords as I listen to showcase songs, but I'm on a different computer that isn't near my instruments... but it sounds like the last time you sang "God is with us" you switched from playing a C major chord to a C maj7, which threw me for a loop the first time I heard it. Every other time you sang to the C major chord, but when you ended singing to the Cmaj7 it struck my ear wrong. Switching to the Maj7 makes for a clever ending changeup, but I think it would sound more resolved if you kept the straight C maj chord. (Standard disclaimer applies about the listener's opinion vs the song writer's creative choices. I think you have good judgment about what works in a song... far better than mine, in fact) In conclusion, I enjoyed this quite a bit! One more Josie Beck home run! Thanks for the lovely Christmas song, and I wish you a merry Christmas!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
