What I'm referring to is having an audio file in different pitch in the same folder as RT's do. RT's have a guitar 377 audio and a 377 -1 audio as well as a +1 and +2, which are all identical except each file it a different pitch. Does UT's work the same or are they more like a long loop track with a template of different chord progressions? Still trying to understand how all this works. Thanks Wyndham

Hey Folks, I'm bumbling around on User Tracks and though you might help me out of the UT's jungle. What I have been working with, since I can't play an instrument, are some solo backing tracks I've found on Youtube. Easy enough to convert to mp3 files and I have Sonar to help me work these files into something maybe useful. I can bring the MP3 into Sonar and transpose it up or down and create several variations on this one backing track. I bring the mp3 file into BB into the audio chord wiz to extract the chords, so far so good. I use this for my chords in the style and the mp3 for the RT. When I create one ut with a style and save it and the mp3 to my UT folder it works, so far so good. Now I want to add another MP3, which I transposed +/- a step or 2 to the UT folder, do I simply add the mp3 to the folder or go through the ACW to extract the chords. If I do this, I have to save the sgu as a different name otherwise I overwrite the original sgu file. I'm at a loss on how to proceed and the tutorials escape my understanding of how to do this. Thanks Wyndham

Wyndham, I cannot answer your question. But will ask this: Have you tried any of the guitar UT's yet? If so what were the results like. Good test UT. This almost has a melody-like sound..

Do think you will have to create a new UT for each pitch version. Just slightly different names tho. Then the 2-3 or 4 versions will appear on the UT selection window.

Intentionally kept this post separate.
For an existing UT. Copy the folder to working area. Rename folder slighty. Copy this name into UT content .SGU Memo.txt. Not the wav file yet.
Run BIAB .sgu Load the .sgu rename in the sgu screen and save. Now load the WAV file into DAW your going to use. Change the pitch as you wish. Save the wav file with new name from above. Run the biab.sgu file with your AUDIO track on. test it in the different chord locations.
New your screen Load style you want to use. Load the modified UT you want to try/test. Your either right on, or back to the books...

Thanks for the reply Frank, I was wondering that also but that would seem a clumsy way to implement it. In RT's it seems there are 3 to 4 tracks that only differ by transposition. I would hope Peter or someone from PG might drop by to clarify this point. Wyndham

Look into the RT folders and see if the RT's have different names. If they do, that changes the game a bit.

Think I found the tutorial that says about what you said. go through ACW for the chords of the audio file. Choose a style and save save in a ut folder with a unique name "guitar ballad 120" save 5the sgu to that folder with a name like guitar ballad. Then do that again(ACW,etc) with the next file that you transpose and save it as guitar ballad +1(transposed up 1) Do it again with next audio save as guitar ballad +2(transposed up 2). These are all saved in the same ut folder. Make sure you're audio level and tempo is the same for each track and sgu. I've messed around with this enough to see it should work well. There's some good solo backing tracks on youtube that are public domain that should work well http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ is an online mp3 extractor for youtube audio. I might have missed a step here or there but think it might be close. Wyndham

Methinks you just left me in the dust....
But this sounds like a very viable method in three ways. Audio sourcing(gotta be careful there). ACW for chord layouts. Your requested pitch change abilities.
Good luck! and please share some of your results.

I have goofed up many test as I forget to do something simple like BPM. I also see some timing issues with ACW as I'm not very adept in using it correctly. I think this my hold some promise for those, like myself can't play any instrument. Hope someone can take this to a higher level. Wyndham
