Foreword - I posted this initially in the Tips & Tricks section, but it soon came apparent that this works differently on the MAC than PC, and since I was only getting replies from PC users (go figure!), it was suggested I post this here instead: I'm looking for the command that transposes only a section of the song. I know there's a key command to do this, but cannot for the life of me remember what it is??

Never seen that in Mac version. 'Transposing from...to' and the 'conductor' are the best gift they could do for biab 2015 for mac, imho :-)

Never seen that in Mac version. Are you sure? I could swear I actually did this some versions ago, but as it wasn't what I meant to do at the time I didn't pay attention to just how I did it! I do remember it was via some key command, though, i.e. not a menu thing. 'Transposing from...to' and the 'conductor' are the best gift they could do for biab 2015 for mac, imho :-) I don't even know what this 'conductor' thing is, let alone what it does, heh.

I have never seen the option to transpose a section of a song, But I don't recall ever having a need. I would just write in the chords of the new key.
However I just did a workaround that may or may not work for you.
1. I started a NEW song in BIAB. 12 bar blues in C 2. Saved it on desktop as C blues. 3. Started another NEW song in BIAB. 12 bar blues in F 4. Saved it on desktop as F blues. 5. -----same process as #1 and #2 but key of G----
Then opened F blues, copied 12 bars, opened C blues and pasted 12 bars of F blues in measures 13-24 of C blues.
Then opened G blues, copied 12 bars, opened C blues and pasted 12 bars of G blues in measures 25-36 of C blues.
Then stayed in the opened C blues, copied the first 12 measures and pasted them in measures 37-48.
It sounds like complicated, workaround but in reality took less time than to describe it here.
good luck

Well, you're right about one thing, it does sound complicated! But I myself now actually got 'a workaround' of my own I'm starting to try out: I transpose the whole song (since that's the only working Mac transpose I'm aware of yet) to the key I'm aiming for, select the section I really wanted to transpose and hit cmd-c, then transpose the whole song back to its original key, select the desired section again and hit cmd-v - Works for what it's worth, but of course is still just a 'poor man's substitute' of what we should be having, innit

Well, the big trouble is if one would like to transpose the melody too.... :-(

Indeed, hence the "poor man's" bit of my proposed workaround. I myself have other ways of getting around that (via external midi things), but of course having the proper tool like on the PC version is what you'd want.

I'm still hoping (against hope) that someone from PG spots this topic. They seem to be the only ones here who would know the answer for sure.

I know this was posted 3+ years ago, but I'm after the same thing - like the progression of key changes in "On Broadway". Easy enough to write the chords in C (for example), but be able to transpose a section a semi-tone above at some point.... rather than having to write the whole thing out and then edit each chord by a semitone every next chorus - painstaking!
Some men see things as they are and ask "why?" I dream of things that never were and ask "why not?"

I was thinking of exactly that kind of a scenario, up a semitone for the latter half of a song (known in my region as "The Eurovision transpose"). And as for the 3+ years part of your reply - it's (sadly!) still very much missing from BBox these 3 years later, so if anything I'm quite pleased you revived this topic

Another vote for "transpose selected" capability.

This would be a great feature, indeed, and even better if we could instruct BIAB not to regenerate the portion of the song that is not being transposed. It's so frustrating to make a chord change and then to have to have the entire song regenerated with a different performance. ----------- I did a Wishlist post about the Chord Options/Chord Settings dialog box, which partly involves wanting to be able to select multiple bars and have all of the selected bars respond to changes made in the Chord Options dialog. It would make sense for there to be a transpose option in there as well so that we could transpose selected bars only. I included this suggestion in that post: http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=351310#Post351310

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
