Hello.
I am new to Band in a box and computers. I am trying to record guitar to biab but i do not have any live sound i can only hear biab. I can only hear the guitar when i play back the track. Recently i get this message when i start up biab ( The currently installed soundcard driver does not support Direct Sound Input. Recording audio is not possible.). Does this mean i need to download the correct driver or that i need to use a different soundcard ?.
I am using a Sony viao vgc-js2e the sondcard is ( Sound Chip Realtek ALC889 High Definition Audio Codec )
I hope someone can help me.

Make sure your lin in is enabled for monitoring in your soundcard.
There will be a seperate mixer for windows, usually right-clicking the little speaker icon in the bottom right corner of screen will open it.
You may need latest drivers (should be a free download from manufacturer).
You may need a different soundcard, too. I'm not familiar with that exact model.. what Operating System? XP, Vista?
You'll get more response if you post questions in the correct forum, like the BiaB forum for this question

You must enable the audio driver for the Audiobox interface from Cubase setting. The computer's sound card has nothing to do with recording. Audiobox does, so make sure you enable in the settings area, and select when you are choosing your input device. Also, try this: Google your sound card name and download the latest driver.
to see sound card info, do this:
Start - run - type " Dxdiag " - click yes - go to sound tab
