From the Latin "obstrepere".

Maybe it's because of all of the bullsh*t videos and and books telling people how to write a song!

If you don't know how to write a song without a tutorial, maybe you shouldn't be writing songs.

Musical skills are learned from studying theory, scales, chords and arpeggios. Then learn all of the songs you like. Screw what everyone else likes. Just learn all of the ones you want to play. The other ones come easy.

Songwriting skills should be learned by writing songs and figuring out what sucks and what dosen't suck. Not following some formula.

......Unless of course you WANT your songs to sound like everyone else's. Do the world a favor and write your own friggin' song without the use of a tutorial, video or book.

You can forget obstreperous, if looking for rhyming words, you will be a little bit stuck at finding them for "Month" and "Orange". Also a few other words I can't at the moment recall.

"So forgive me for being obstreperous,
I am looking for some words
as there is none that rhyme with orange
that is only for the birds

And as for one for month there isn't much at all
It can really drive you insane
and to bang your head on the wall,
So writing stuff about it, it should be nice and plain
that writing about not rhyming
Is only just in vain.

As well as Month and orange, there are
Bulb
Silver
Angel
Ninth

A Google search showed heaps more, it just depends how pedantic one needs to be.

"Angel" can be handled if you change the soft "g" to a hard "g". The choices are limited, but here's a few.

Tangle
Mangle
Bangle
Rangle

Hi Bob

I think you're confusing Angel with "Angle" (as in 45 degrees) and not "Angel", as in heavenly with wings. They're pronounced differently.

And to Herb, sorry, this thread seems to have gotten pretty badly hijacked. Apologies... What can I say?

I guess you didn't catch the part about the hard g and the soft g, .....or maybe you don't know what that means.

sheesh!

“I cut the heart out of a fallen angel
Now with guilt I’ll have to tangle”

Also, thanks for pointing out that "angle" and "angel" are pronounced differently. I never would have figured that out on my own.

But wait, ... that comes back to a hard g and a soft g doesn't it? Maybe I'm not as stupid as you insinuated.

Heavens no. I think your reply is overly sensitive and a bit unfair. I never ever wanted to suggest anything that might be related to anyone's level of common sense. Yep, I am intelligent and I do understand what you mean by soft g and hard g

Simply put, Angel and Angle are pronounced differently, but I didn't invent either of those words or how they were to be pronounced.

Moreover, I didn't have any part of developing the English Language, so please don't try to pin that one on me. Things like: To, Two, Too. And Whether the Weather will be sunny. Sheeeesh.

And boy, I sure never insinuated what you said. That's just not how the team works here, is it? It was never meant to be a criticism, it was a clarification, so don't be too sensitive, please.

Forget I ever mentioned any word that starts with 'A', OK?

Peace, OK?

I'm not being overly sensitive. A 5 year old knows that angel and angle are pronounced differently.

Your comment was a blatant insult.

orange rhymes with tango if you pronounce it like orango.

Hey, I played a 5-song set yesterday on streetjelly. It had been like a year and I had trouble getting the technicals sounding OK. I even rhymed a few words. I need to start doing that again.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
