Hi guys splashed out and purchased Sonar platinum. Although Ive used Sonar before its been some years and just stepped up from reaper. I'm after recommendations for vocal plugins and settings. Ive played around with some but not sure. Here is a link to what I have done so far. Think the vocal is to far out front. Be there for you Used BT Olican echo TLE-2S Lead voc 19997 but tweaked a little. Please let me know if this is the best plugin to use or is there a better option. Im mostly happy with the rest of the mix. Thanks in advance Rob.

Most vocals sound better when they're not overly processed.
Use a good condenser mic, a bit of reverb, a tad of compression, some gentle EQ to bring out the best characteristics as well as to clean up the mud, and set the level properly and you should be good.
That's essentially 3 plugs. verb, compression and EQ. That's what's in 95% of my vox tracks. Unless the song specifically needs echo or something else for a special effect, don't use it. Always, always use the best condenser mic you can get. If you are on limited funds and only have a dynamic mic, use it. But keep in mind, the mic is the beginning of everything you will do with a vocal. If the mic can't capture the nuances of a vocal performance, no FX will ever be able to re-create that with software.
The problems start when folks don't get a good recording to start with and then don't use those 3 things properly, start obsessing over the track, and try to "fix" it with other plugs.
For what it's worth.... the song you linked sounds like it has a decent vocal track. I didn't hear anything that stood out as a glaring issue. Keep working on the 3 plugs and use a decent mic and your vocal trackings will keep improving as time goes by.

You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

always depends on what you are trying to achieve. I love Nectar 2 for vocals. I usually choose a preset that gets me close and then tweak everything to get it how I want it.

Just checked what I used on the songs below. Brother Get in Line just had the VX-64 Crystal cave Reverb and I didn't EQ but I do believe I may have used the channel compressor from the ProChannel strip on "brother". For Pancho's Song I used the VX-64 again and the Sonitus FX Reverb "Short and Sweet" setting. I have also used the TL-64 tube in the past but I am liking the VX-64 for the last couple. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3XaciVXfgwhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNri7te9RLwExperiment. I agree with Guitarhacker's 3 effects

The more of them you use, and the more you turn them on, the farther away from your goal you get.

Here is a link to A Sonar tutorial on side chaining and ducking. I'm anxious to try it out. The idea being you have an effect ( reverb/ delay etc) but the effect is minimized while sing but comes back up at the tail end of the phrase to fill in the space. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tkWeQR4UJf0Alternate link http://youtu.be/tkWeQR4UJf0

I have run Sonar for a few years now but just purchased Band In A Box and am waiting for my drive. Watching a lot of video.
You should have a VST that is part of Plat. called Vocal Strip (or very close to that) It has many good presets and yields well.
Good luck and join in the madmess on the sonar forum.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
