Tried to write a Waylon Jennings style song.

https://soundcloud.com/tuigorge/like-silver-daggers-in-the-sky

RD - Blues rock slow
Bass - RT 2421 - Rockabilly slap
Guitars - RT2422 - Boom chick rhythmn
- RT 643 - Hard rock thrash

Hope you enjoy it . Cheers.

Silver Daggers in the Sky

He was a Devil with the women Takin love at every turn
Lightin fires in all di-rections Leavin pretty things to burn

She was a Lady long and lonesome They made such a dashing pair
Took her tripping on his Harley Life and laughter in the air

Heartbreak's hard on the hor-izon Like silver daggers in the sky
Every-body loved him but he spun a web of lies

An old flame lurking in the shadows She'd die to have him for her-self
Sneakin sly in desper-ation Lost and lonely on the shelf

Lady's life became a sideshow One that laid her in her grave
Not the only one who loved him Not the only one who paid

Heartbreak's hard on the hor-izon Like silver daggers in the sky
Every-body loved him but he spun a web of lies

Each week a rose placed on her tombstone Marked with bitter tears in time
He'll never love a-nother Still keeps lookin for a sign

Heartbreak's hard on the hor-izon Like silver daggers in the sky
Every-body loved him but he spun a web of lies
Captured in a web of lies Like silver daggers in the sky
in the sky

How cool! We just finished a rhythm section
using some boomChickas but more of a
rockabilly song. You got a good feel
re Waylon. And while we are on good feels...
your write and vocal delivery accents
the whole Waylon vibe even more. Of course
nobody played a solo like Waylon -- a very
unique sound even for the chicken pickin'
days.

In a song packed with good lines we really
like "Lightin fires in all directions Leavin pretty
things to burn"

Tons of stuff to love here!!

This is a goodun.

I will just agree with J&B. That line "struck" me too.

Your writes are always interesting and this is no exception!! Interesting ballad, and some wonderful lyrical images (Silver daggers in the sky-very cool)!! I think the unusual mix of RTs worked very well. Enjoyed it! Take care. Greg

Rich,

That grew on me as the song moved on, and by the end I was immersed and thoroughly enjoying it!

Thanks J&B.
Waylon was one of my favorites for years.
Still is. Played great lead when he wanted to.
Will check out a few songs from the last couple of weeks to catch up.
I love to cover his songs at the CM clubs but can't do that here of course.
Thanks for the listen and the comments. Cheers.

Thanks Patrick.
Did the song at a music club the other night and told the guy who inspired it
that the song was about him. He listened till the end and then said the song was ok but was nothing like him at all.
So I had to say well yeah it's not really about you. Just my imagination. Hmmm. Cheers.

Hey Richard,

This is great! Not only are your songs unique, they are always enjoyable and well worth the listen. This one is no exception. As Janice and Bud have already mentioned, there are some terrific lines in these lyrics. These days, it seems to me that you've really found your voice when it comes to writing.

All the best,
Noel

Thanks very much Greg.
I'm glad you find the songs interesting because not being much of a vocalist I try hard to keep from being boring.
Cheers.

Thanks Noel.
You are always most supportive.
You are the master of form and lyric content.
I am feeling a little more comfortable with lyrics these days and trying to make them a little less abstract than before. Cheers.

Hello Rich,

That was very nicely done! Almost did not sound like Band in a Box.
This is the first time I heard the 2422 realtrack, checked it out immediately in the program. Will definitely use that sometime.
