Rachel and I celebrated our 39th Anniversary last week. (I think we got married when we were 3. ) smile

I have been very blessed to have a good wife, and family. I am so thankful for her. I actually wrote this song 3 years ago, but was going through some old ones and listening to them, and decided to remix it. All RealTracks/Drums, with brass and strings added via Garritan Orchestra softsynth that I played. This one was done in Logic Pro X. I hope you enjoy it!

You're The Only One For Me

Here are the lyrics...

You're The Only One For Me
Words & Music, Copyright Stephen W. Young

I dream about the future
About the way things ought to be
And baby, you're the only one for me
But I don't need imagination
For me to know the way I feel
Cause you're the only one for me

No one ever moved me
The way you do
I'm so glad I found
Someone like you

Every day that I am with you
Is another dream come true
Cause you're the only one for me
I love everything about you
I love everything you do
Cause baby, you're the only one for me

No one ever moved me
The way you do
I'm so blessed to find
Someone like you

And if you didn't notice
I want everyone to know
That you're the only one for me

No one ever moved me
The way you do
I'm so blessed to find
Someone like you

Clever choice to start off with that reggae-infused intro, grabs your attention straight away (which is important). There's a theory that the listener decides within the first 15 seconds of a song if it's worth continuing or not, so an early 'hook' like that is just the thing.
Am also liking the interesting choices of RT's in general. You obviously know them well enough not to be biased (read:limited) by their names alone.

ooh, is that cake?!

Beautiful
nice echo on the backing vocals "baby you're the only one" at 2.50ish and other spots
very smooth fade

She's a lucky lady to have such a nice song written about her
congrat on 39 years!!!

best wishes to you both

Hi, Steve!

I recall this song from my early days on the forum - which was because of you (and your use of BIAB) in the first place... I can't thank you enough for that!

Just a super write! Simple, to the point and filled with positive emotion - a great combination for any writer to take note of - and strive for...

Your production is tasty (always!). Crisp, clean, clear. Top shelf. Your vocals are always so "comfortable" - and SO well recorded.

Excellent - top to bottom - start to finish...

Hi Steve.

Beautifully done. What a lovely gentle reggae rhythm to go with those tender lyrics.

Great song, very emotive vocals and an excellent mix. The fiddle solo was a surprise, but I have to say it worked well.

Congrats on the 39 years and all the best for the next 39.

Steve, Happy anniversary! Like floyd, when I first heard your productions I realized the great potential of this software. I love the way you have used so many different real tracks that at first glance wouldn't seem to necessarily work together. Your vocals are top notch as well as your arrangements. The clarity of your finished product is astounding. Great song, as you know I am a fan. Tom

Congrats on the 39! 35 with us. We love these
laid back grooves (we're big JJ Cale fans) and this
is a fine example. A terrific write, vocal, melody with
an intriguing and very effective RT choice.

And you wrapped up the above up with a strong mix
(another Logic Pro user here).

And with it being on SC we can add it to our mix.

Most enjoyable!

J&B

PS The sly reggae organ was very cool.

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track

Review - Band-in-a-Box® 2023 for Windows is Overflowing with Features!

Dennis posted his very thorough Band-in-a-Box® review recently, where he dives into some of the new features added with version 2023: Sound-Guy's Band-in-a-Box Review

Read his thoughts on the Download & Install Manager, partial track regeneration, Playable RealTracks, Audio Editing, the addition of SynthMaster, the VST DAW Plugin, and more!

"Band-in-a-Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is, without negative connotation, a monster of a program. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. No DAW can do some of the things BIAB does, while BIAB can do a lot that DAWs do."
