Hello ROG,

Seeing the title: 'No matter what' immediately made me think of Boyzone (which I like by the way, haha). But this was something completely different.

it's a beautiful song, very well done and I very much like the backing vocals on the chorus.
One little nit: through my speakers I detect some distortion in the mix, especially in the chorus. Is this correct?

Apart from that, this is up to your usual high standards!

Rob

ROG and Andy,

It's lots of applause from here in Melbourne for you both. This was just great to listen to.

Andy, you've got a great set of pipes on you; moreover, you know how to use them! Terrific song, terrific lead work, too.

ROG, this production must have taken quite a while to pull together. It seems like a 5,000 piece jigsaw puzzle and every bit only has a single spot made for it. Impressive.

This is a creation that you both have every right to feel mega-proud of.

All the best,
Noel

Hi there R & A-M.

Thanks for the listen and the review.

In the chorus there are some over-driven guitars chugging on Root/5th and I think that this is probably what you're hearing. It's the only part of the song which has them in and I've listened again and can't hear any distortion other than that which is intended. Those guitars are there to lend a bit of power to the bass in that section and you've got good ears to separate them out from everything else which is going on!

Very pleased that you liked it otherwise.

Cheers, ROG.

Hi Noel.

Always pleased when I get a review from you.

Yes, it did take a while to put together. The basic chord structure, melody and lyrics came fairly quickly, but it's all the bits and pieces which take the time. This is when working in Powertracks is such a delight. It would have taken ten times as long on tape, if it could have been done at all! We'd have needed to record all the BVs in one go, instead of being able to track them all up.

Anyway, many thanks for listening and all the kind words.

ROG.

Hello

great song and tone used

It must have been a hard job to use all 48 tracks!!

can you tell me what effect you used on the guitar?
It is highly helpful for me.

Thanks.

Hello.

Hi Sergio.

Thanks for the listen and review.

For this guitar solo, the guitar went through an old (1970s) Carlsboro amp with a line out to the computer. The effect was California Sun, which is an absolutely brilliant plug-in. Even better - it's free and you can get it from here.

http://audiorammer.com/site/?q=freetortion-series/volume-v-california-sun

Read about it on this screen and then click "downloads" at the top of the screen. It's simple to use and works well for both clean and over-drive sounds.

The sound was probably helped by the fact that I was playing a 1959 Fender Telecaster - I've had it for a long time, so I didn't pay a collector's price for it!

Cheers, ROG.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
