I always like to give my first impressions of a new forum I sign up on within the first week or two.

This is the friendliest forum I have ever joined.

Well..sure I came here to learn about BIAB but I think I will stay here because of the people.

It may take me a bit to understand how to interact here, where to post, where to find stuff, so please feel free to tell me what to do and what not to do. I am not one to get my feelings hurt by most anything anyone has to say. No need to walk on egg shells with me.

No life that touches another life is ever the same for the encounter so I hope to be a positive and useful person here.

Cheers,

Billy

Billy,

I have been a forum member since I believe about 1996 or so. I don't use PG products any longer due to a change in the general workflow (I play a few more instruments now than I did in the early 2000's when I made a switch), but I continue to hang out here because of the people primarily. Some of the original forum members are responsible for teaching me the ropes of home recording with a computer and it feels like they are old friends.

Welcome to the forum and PG products.

Thanks for articulating your point so well. You've already discovered that this 'is not one of those other types of forums'. There's a great crew here, all ready, willing and able to support each other. You'll like it here. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Billy,

You've echoed my opinion about the forum almost word for word! The people here really are as friendly and helpful as your first impression suggests.. but there's always room for one more, so WELCOME to the club!

The company that hosts the forum (PGMusic) does a good job of setting that mood. The owner of the company, Dr Peter Gannon, is far from being an absentee owner... he's here on the forum regularly interacting with us. LOTS to like here.

When I started writing and selling aftermarket styles in the early 1990s, I got a call from Peter Gannon, offering to help me write the styles for all the platforms at the time (Atari, PC and Mac).

That surprised me. After all I'm riding on the coat-tails of his excellent product. I hope that in return, I can offer support and some extra value to the other users of Band-in-a-Box.

Peter has been helpful and generous since, and hires people of the same caliber and attitude to work with him at PG Music.

I do think that attitude does a lot to making the forum a friendly place. With a lot of generous, helpful people from PG music interacting and moderating the forum, we get the feeling we are being taken care of.

We know the employees and we get to know each other. And we're all a niche of a nice of a product users. Musicians - computer musicians - computer musicians who use auto-accompaniment software, auto-accompaniment software users that use Band-in-a-Box.

The result seems to me like we are all family here. We share each others accomplishments, we care about each other, help each other through hard times, and offer the benefit of our experience to others.

Welcome to the family. I think you'll like it here.

Like a few other members I joined the forum to firstly get help in learning how to use BIAB, as my goal was to write music for the typical UK brass band. However other things came along, I left brass banding and that interest has faded, though still play a bit on brass. I have also stuck here because of the great people and musicians who are fellow members.
Welcome Billy and hope you enjoy the company as much as I do.

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome. I have been looking for some place on the internet to call home.

I am here to help to do what I can to help other people. All you have to do is ask, by email, by phone, or just stop by the house to drink coffee. My wife Eva made a cake this morning and I need some help to eat it...lol

Cheers,

Billy

Welcome aboard. BiaB brought us back into music and has
allowed us to explore music well beyond what we did in
our bluegrass days. There are great folks here and the
forum is extremely well moderated. My contacts with
everybody associated with the company has convinced
me that they are THE most customer friendly business
I've ever encountered. We have met wonderful folks
on the forum some of which have become regular
song collaborators.

You've found a wonderful net hangout and the amount
of knowledge here re BiaB and song production is
immense. I've learned more about mixing and mastering
from folks here than I had over the last 30 years.

J&B,

The first indication that the company was customer driven was a short conversation with sales and a short conversation with tech support.I made a point of saying to them what a pleasant
surprise it was to deal with such nice people.

This is a company I will support in any way I can. They do good work and should be rewarded for their efforts.

Cheers,

Billy

regarding the people on the forum:

earlier this year I took a road trip to meet as many friends as possible from this forum... I didn't have any guarantees regarding what to expect, because it is so easy to present a false persona online.

But I took the chance based on the way people here have shown a consistent concern for one another, spanning all the years I've been a member here. Usually, a false face will slide down in time, and whatever is underneath will be visible... but I never saw anything but goodness for years at a time.

What I found at each visit confirmed and even far exceeded my positive forum impressions! I've been on many online forums (still am) and no other forum I know about comes anywhere close to collecting this many good people in one place!

And its not uncommon for forum friends to travel in order to meet one another... a bunch of people here have done the same. You live in a great state for that... Florida is home of quite a few BIAB forum members.

Billy,

Right on with your posting.
I will add this to it.
When my Videos are posted, I always give credit to
PG Music...great products and support folks.

Based on listening to Showcase productions, and a lot of
help was able to do something never dreamed of.
I published a CD, sorta like a "bucket list" sort of thing.
The members of this forum gave me a lot of advice for
the artwork put together, and as time goes along other
problems with other works.
The members of this forum received credits on my CD.

Always be grateful to forum members and also PG Music.

Welcome aboard with your nice posting.

Good on ya Billy!

Like others BIAB brought me back to music after nearly 30 years away. Only a few short weeks after introduction to BIAB from an old pillar of PG Music users, let's just call him Mac I was booking gigs again. And that was 10-12 years ago, so time does fly when you are having fun.

Again, welcome aboard Billy!

Thanks Danny for the welcome.

I been really digging into BIAB so I have been a little slow to respond to peoples post. Sorry

I need an admin just to respond to all you great folks..lol

I put in some automated settings to get up dates and my phone has been beeping about every 37 seconds...lol

Cheers,

Billy

PS...if I have missed responding to someone it is because I am old and retired or retarded or something...lol

That has been my experience also.

There are musicians and songwriters at every stage of development here who are willing and eager to share their knowledge and experience with others. That makes PG Music Forums very unique. It's a Family!

Everyone checks their egos at the door and opens their minds for a fruitful exchange of thought.

The moderators do a great job of keeping everyone on the same page and within the bounds of netiquette.

Dr Peter Gannon encourages input from users and is prompt in adapting ideas of merit.

Contribute to the mix in any way you can and welcome to the
PG Music Family.

Addendum: I suffered a severe stroke that left me mute and paralyzed. I thought that my music was also silenced forever. Enter Dr Peter Gannon and his wonderful Band In A Box.

I'm back into my love of music to an even deeper and more knowledgeable degree than ever. I silently thank Peter every time I begin a composing/recording session.

A word about the marvelous friends I've made through these forums:

Danny Campo and Summer Russell drove a combined total of over 2000 miles to visit my Nursing Home and entertain for free. Josie Cooper from Johannesburg SA is planning to visit here soon. Several others (Scotty Olson and Mario D) are coming soon. Danny and Summer have visited and entertained twice each. Better friends are impossible to find and yet they are abundant in The PG Family.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
