Petty, Floyd? Yeah, I can live with that. It took a bit of processing on the RealDrums to get them to sound like that - glad you approved.

I couldn't help thinking of Annie Lennox as I listened.

Thanks, Herb.
With that effect, less is definitely more. Glad you liked the trumpet - the RTs are just great, aren't they.

Love that snare sound! The subtle synth stabs are nice! Cool trumpet...

Gorgeous guitar lead!

The mix is a real stand-out!

REALLY enjoyed this!!!

Hi Floyd.
What can I say except thanks very much. A lot of EQ and compression went into getting that snare right. Then I thought "Floyd will want this louder" so I pushed it a bit more!

Good one. Nice trumpet part and lead work!

Hi Kevin. Many thanks. The girls are not doing music at university, but they're still singing. I get to see them in the vacations, but the rest of the time I have to do my own BVs!

Thanks for the complements, Tommy. I didn't think the trumpet would work either until I dropped the track in. The RTs are just great, aren't they.

The song has got a very nice drive to it.
We also like that subtle chorus guitar. The 494 RT is a good choice for the solo, especially followed by that great guitar solo!

Hi ROG,

Just got home from hospital after major surgery. This is my first listen since coming home. When I saw your screen name, it caught my eye immediately. Power Rock Ballad is about as close as I could define this by genre. But it just ROG ...nuff said!

Nor feeling real good so didn't read any of the previous comments. Forgive me if something might be repetitive:

1. Cool vocal FX
2. Perfect vocal harmonies
3. Bass line really drives this one for me
4. Trumpet was an interesting but unexpected choice. Very cool!
5. FX stabs were the icing and a delicious cake.
6. As always, guitar work, arrangement, mixing and production were as close perfect as one could expect.

Loved it! Best to you,

Alan

Hey ROG,

Apologies... I've just noticed that I haven't commented on this song. I first listened to it a week or so ago and I thought I'd commented then.

This is brilliant. You've really raised the bar here. Everything about this first rate. At the end of the music journey, the first thought that popped into my head was "ROG really knows his stuff!"

A terrific listen!

All the best,
Noel

Rog, everything that I wanted to say already has been said!

When I started listening I said how in hell is a trumpet going to fit in this song? Well you did make it fit and you made it fit very well! Kind of like a smooth jazz lead to a rock song.

You have helped get the bar a little higher here!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Hi Mario.

Many thanks for the kind review. That break-down section was originally going to have a vocal in it, but I couldn't get it to work. I tried a few solo instruments which I wasn't happy with and generated the trumpet without really expecting it to work myself. Sometimes, you just get lucky!

Tom Petty came to mind for me as well. That opening guitar sets this song up perfectly. It's a very artistic production with a lot of interesting fx, dynamics and shifts. Love those background vocals.

Technical and musical, if that makes any sense:) Thoroughly enjoyed it. Going back for another listen....

Hi Olemon and many thanks for the review.

Technical and musical? Yeah, that makes sense and I regard it as a complement, thanks. Always been a Tom Petty fan, so that sits well, too.

Thanks again for the listen.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
