Joe, I think it might violate forum rules for me to post such links, but you won't have any trouble finding her music. Just use her full name on YouTube, or google her full name: Denise Jordan Finley. Her website is her name, one long word. Or even google my name as one word and look at my discography tab. My website is also in my profile (all the songs on my jazz CD were composed in BIAB).

I don't play out much anymore, just a few concerts each year, but I'm very proud of my work on Denise's CDs. I use BIAB to enter each of her songs and create the instrumental arrangement I will play in the studio.

There is a better method. Works for acoustic or electric.

Look closer. She uses a variety of capos including different cuts. She often reaches behind the capo to play a bass note.

Matt,

Denise is excellent. In all regards. Cool guitar, beautiful vocals, beautiful writing.

I wish that you would open a different thread to "introduce" her to us properly, because I would love to hear more about how she (or you guys) record/prepare/produce her music. The vocals are so nicely recorded... I'd like to hear details about how that is done (home? studio? what mics? processors?)...

... so that the discussion does not hi-jack this thread any further...

or be lost here to those who may not be following this...

Thank you all so much!

Sorry I didn't catch the joke - I don't speak guitar (grin).

I would be uncomfortable starting such a thread because although I am thoroughly entrenched in BIAB and computer recording, Denise is not. She composes, performs and records the old-fashioned way. But as far as using a graphite guitar (the original thread subject), she's cutting edge and an evangelist for it, primarily because of its hospitality to many alternate tunings.

Winding strings.....

When installing new ones, wrap twice around the peg, be sure the winding starts close to the guitar but below the string hole in the peg.... after 2 complete wraps, push the wraps down and the string gores through the peg hole with the wraps under it.

Wind the peg in the correct direction to tighten to pitch. Trim the flying end, leave about 1/4" or so.

That's the method I use and it works flawlessly and holds tune.

she sings and plays beautifully! and I really like her style of music... the exchange between the chords and melody is downright hypnotic!

Does she make her videos? They're pretty spiffy too!

Many thanks Pat. Yes, she makes her videos. I'll tell her you like them.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
