I wanted to write something happy. So here's a new little ditty with a vintage beach music vibe. Thanks for listening and your thoughts are always appreciated. Hope you enjoy: BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME©2016 Josie Beck I used to think that love was a faded word in the pages of old books Like the fiction that fell from lips that made me cry Then you said if I could find my faith My happy ending would be with you And you wrote a brand new story in my life Ohohoh Look at me I'm a believer A receiver Because you loved me Now my life is so full of possibilities And I can dare to dream Because you loved me I knew that you were different when we'd go walking down the beach And you were finding dreams I'd buried in the sand Like the rainbow in a rainstorm You kept shining on my doubts You're amazing, I'm so glad I took your hand Vocals/harmonies me. Created in BIAB/RB and mixed in Reaper. Drums - PraiseWorship Power Push;Bass; Guitars 1524, 1257, 1259; Piano 1535; Horns 2347, 2348, 2110. Josie

Hi Josie.
This is simply wonderful and probably the best thing I've heard you post.
The production and arrangement shows great maturity in the choice of instruments and in when and where they appear. I particularly liked the bass and drums which worked so well together and gave the track lots of impetus.
Your vocals are superb in this and the BVs are inspired - the oohs in the end section are terrific and sound spontaneous, as though they were improvised.
The whole thing is topped off with a splendid mix, which is loud, with plenty of punch, without sounding over-compressed.
You should be really pleased with this.
ROG.

Yes - you've captured the beach music vibe - I agree with ROG, this is a really top write, arrangement and performance. I like it and I mean I like it a lot... Vocals, lead and BG are stellar. This will stand up well with anything on the Beach top 20 at Surf 94.9 Great job. EDIT: Played this one for wife Cindy. She's says it's your best one yet (as she was shagging with a door casing.)

Thank you ROG! You made my day. That means so much to me coming from you. I worked so hard on this arrangement and mix - 32 tracks - most I've ever done. And yes the improv ending was spur of the moment having a little fun on the last track of that day after doing harmony parts.

Wow, Charlie and Cindy!! Shagging to a song I did, hey, it doesn't get any better than that for me. Well maybe only if the radio played it. I was so anxious to see what you thought about the song because I know you are in to beach music. I'm so happy you like it. Thank you!

Josie!
You've delivered a masterpiece here.
I really liked the build from the very first note.
Absolutely fantastic lyrics, embedded perfectly in a sensational melody, with quality backing vocals throughout.
Not a hint of a weak-link anywhere. You must be very pleased with your efforts.
Outstanding.

This is cool. Very nice job and yeah, I too think it's among the best you have done.
My thoughts are that this is reminiscent of the classic 70's hits with the horns.... and I don't know why I was thinking about Karen Carpenter....
Excellent work.

Sheeeesh....it's all I can do to mix five or six. Great work and, as you mentioned, I'm sure there was a LOT of effort put into this one. J&B

Josie,
As you know, I am not able to get around here as much as I used to (and really want to!) But when I come around, I always look for something you have done. You were one of the first people I heard on the forum when I joined up a few years ago. You were good then, and you have continued to grow and get better and better. In my opinion, this is one of your best, if not the best!
Good to hear your music!

Hey Josie! Not sure I've heard of "beach music" BUT son-on-the-beach, this song is awesome!! Really pleasant and catchy. I hear some Motown. Sounds like it could have been a Carole King song from Wrap Around Joy. Loved everything about it!! Take care. Greg

Excellent work. Thank you Herb! The horns RT's are great if you don't mind editing a little bit. I love how live you can make them sound. On this tune, I did the melody, music and most of the horns first then the rest of the song and the lyrics were built around that.

Looking at it one way is in not giving up too soon and the other way is in knowing it's okay to resist the urge to tweak forever.

Josie B, my other cyber daughter,
I've always said that you have a sultry, sexy, come-hither voice which is very commercially-appealing in today's music market.
I hear Mary Chapin Carpenter in this one in her shy, but confident delivery. Mary veritably 'whispers' a lyric to captivate and enthrall an audience. Power is seldom needed. You have the same wonderful gift. No dependence upon gadgetry, just a (dare I say) 'naked' voice.
Your selection of instrumentation showcases and frames your beautiful voice to perfection.
Sing with your vocal folds (cords) and the audience may hear you. Sing with your heart and the world will hear you!
Donny

Noel,
Thank you very much! Looking forward to hearing what you do with the horns. I can't wait to experiment with the new ones from 2016 - I haven't tried them in a song yet.
Donny,
You are so kind. Thank you!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
