The Hobo
©2016 Robert Randall Burke

Walkin' down a lonely road
Into a setting sun
Kickin' up that Georgia clay
Guitar slung across my back
And I ain't never comin' back this way
Not this way.

She was just a Country girl
Livin' in a small town world
Ah, she wanted me to stay
I was just passin' through
That's what hobos do, they say
They say.

I can't do nothin'
When I hear that highway call
So many places
And I need to see them all
Pray for the Hobo
Cause it's comin' on to Fall
On to Fall.

Footloose and fancy free
Will be the death of me
But it's the only life I know
Another town, another bar
Another fiver in the jar
Then I've got to go
Got to go.

I watched the video, Bob. But then, I had to go back and listen from the Bandcamp page. All I had to do was close my eyes and listen. The images are all there in beautiful, living color. Robert Randal Burke songs don't need no stinkin' videos!!! The words paint pictures.

You have a signature sound yet it never gets redundant.

Your ability to write and produce songs that perfectly match
your vocal prowess is the key to why we have always been
big fans of your productions -- and this is no exception.

Like Tom mentioned...the story flows along with well written
imagery.

Superb in a word.

Hi Bob,

Beautifully scripted and sung. That section at 1.36, just you and the guitar before you bring in back the full arrangement, does it for me, it glued together that whole country feel, loved it.

The BVox work a treat.
Subtle arrangement and the steel is just right to add colour and broaden the stereo image to make it a wider road vista.
Cool.

Hi Bob,

This is really really nice. I agree with floyd. Your songs always come with their own video stream in-built. All I do is close my eyes and let your images flow through my mind. It works every time.

I think that maybe this image-generating power of your lyrics is what Pat is meaning when he talks about your ability to weave someone else's memories into your songs. Your enviable skill with lyrics gives us listeners just the right amount of action and detail so that we can create images drawn from our own life experiences. This means that your lyrics become a kind of personal experience... that's how they work for me, at least.

This is a strong creation of every front.... writing, arrangement, performance, mix. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Regards,
Noel

I really like this one Bob. Good song and your vocals do it justice.

This song would have been a good fit for Pure Prairie League during the time Larry Goshorn period. They did several songs that had this overall vibe to it.

Enjoyed this from start to finish.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
