Well, I just could not stand idly by and let Robert Dean be the only guy using Beat Box this month, so I starting fooling around and did something totally goofy. https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs/earth-odysseyThe tracks in the bed are all beatbox.style but I added a bunch of other acoustic and electric guitars with about a hundred effects. Just having fun. Just having fun. I hope no one gets an eye poked out. Lyrics and tracks below, lyrics also on SoundCloud Earth Odyssey By David Snyder V1 You say you’re tired of the pain And you’re tired of the rain And you’re tired of playing The same old games again and again You're tired of staring out into space waiting for something to change Well that makes two of us Like ashes to ashes in a world of dust CH: And we could have been heroes Like Sergeant Pepper and Major Tom Yeah we could have been heroes Like Sergeant Pepper and Major Tom But I’m afraid my love That now we’ll never know I knew it this morning when I turned on the radio V2 You say you tired of facing the night And you’re tired of waiting for dawn You say you’re afraid of the shadows Afraid of the light Afraid of everything that’s gone wrong Well, that’s makes two of us CH And we could have been heroes Like Sergeant Pepper and Major Tom Yeah we could have been heroes Like Sergeant Pepper and Major Tom But I’m afraid my love We will never know I knew it this morning when I turned on the radio V3 So you tired of the pain And you’re tired of the rain And you’re tired of the same old games again and again Well that makes two of us We just need something And someone else to trust We just need something And someone else to trust Words and music copyright 2016 by David Snyder BEATBOX.STY Earth Odyssey 4:06 Key E RealTracks in style: ~2474:Bass, Acoustic, Held Ev 085 RealTracks in style: 1943:Synth, Rhythm, EuroDance Strings Ev 120 RealTracks in style: ~2267:Synth, BellPad, Rhythm 80sPopPads Ev 085 Electric and Acoustic Guiatr, Piano and Synth: David Snyder Vovals: David Snyder

David,
I just tried to listen, but SoundCloud says the track cannot be found - I'll try again later.

David,
It worked ok for me.
I enjoyed this. The lyrics are very evocative. The line "Like ashes to ashes in a world of dust" really appealed to me. Your creativity continues zooming along at the speed of light!
All the best, Noel

David, I just tried again - worked for me this time. I really love what you've done here - a new favorite of your songs for me. Great lyrics and I'm really into the Bowie-esque delivery... Also love the beatbox with the acoustic sounds. Bob

Thanks Bob, I was typing a thank you note when a huge lightning bolt knocked out the city of Raleigh. Thank God all my equipment is plugged into surge protector power strips that are all then plugged into a master surge protector (Military Grade, $200 variety) so I won't lose my band in a box songs!!! And because of a backup router power module I can sent out one more email!! Been drawing a lot of inspiration from you and everyone else Bob! Thanks for the great material. Got to go light a candle now. Catch you guys on the other side!!!

Maybe should have been Earth Oddity-very Bowie! I really like it!! The style is very cool, and the mix sounds very big and analog. Great job with everything-song, vocals, and production!! Take care. Greg

Well done, David.
A very solid mix on this - your best ever, I think. Everything sits right where it should. The simple guitar run/lead that you have at the end of the chorus is a GREAT touch! The vocal is mixed perfectly, too...
Interesting write - keeps your interest throughout.
Y'all are tearin' up that beatbox thang...

Hi David, you continue to be innovative, imaginative, and when you compress all that into a musical box, you come up with something like this, a little masterpiece.

Thanks Floyd. As mentioned to many others, I am drawing major inspiration from the writers on this site, including you of course!!
When I hear something really good on here--which is a lot--it always makes me smile and the next thing you know I have a song in my head, and I am thinking "Ok, let's try this..."
I don't get that feeling when I am listening to the radio.
This site kind of reminds me a lot of music from the 60s and 70s in a way, when everyone was coming out with crazy stuff all the time that made you want to try something crazy of your own.
Commercial stuff to me is bland by comparison and does not evoke the same emotional response as the stuff I hear on this forum. I can't really explain why but it's the truth. Maybe it's more honest or something.

I fell the exact same way David! There is wonderful inspiring music on this site in a way that I feel must have been shared by the songwriters of the golden era of pop and rock! Take care. Greg

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
