Here's my contribution to the Xtra Styles Contest:

BROKEN

Some magnificent styles in this pack most of them are radio ready.
As far as I'm concerned the PG team can feel free to do this every year ;-)

I immediately liked the style _Broken from the Pop/Rock section of the styles pack. It is heavy and melodic at the same time.
Hence, I decided to write a dramatic rock song using the very same title 'Broken'.
The song is about a man who caused a lethal car accident, and so the theme of the song is also quite heavy.

Since I'm not exactly a hard rock singer, it took me some time to master the song properly and to make my voice and the lyrics audible.
I used the Z3TA+ synthesizer to both master the song and enhance my vocals.

Anne-Marie will soon follow with a song from the Singer/Songwriter section.

Hope y'all like it!

Rob

Lyrics:

I, I want to make you see
that for all days to come
you'll have a hold on me
and I, I wanted you to know
that you will always be
the biggest part of me

were we really there?
was that real?
was there never a way out?
because I can't believe
there will always be this pain

I, I would give the world
to be next to you
just to be near to you
cause you, you're the very heart
being so much more than I could ever want
were you really there?
was that real?
will it always feel this dark?
as you were sitting there
that sudden silence
the life flowing out of you
away from everything I knew

was I really there?
was that real?
was there never a way out?
because I can't accept
that it was me
it was me who drove that car
it was me who ran that wild
were you really there?
was that you?
will it always be this cold
because I can't believe
there will always be this pain

Very nicely done Rob.

Like the use of guitar, strings and Rock drums. Great vocals.

So often we go for styles, but this EXTRA STYLES package is working just fine for me.

Rob,

This is really great! As always, your production is just brilliant.

You've taken this style and made it your own.... in every way, this creation is spectacular.

Noel

Thank you Noel!
I love that (hard) rock stuff in BIAB, a real challenge for my voice every time.
Me being sort of a wannabe rock singer ;-)
They did a great job by tweaking those styles in the Xtra Styles Pack. They sound so full and professional. I'm definitely going to record lots of other stuff with them.

Rob

Rob,
This was by far amongst your best ever utilizing BiaB and their Pop/Rock section
The drive where the drums actually carved out the melody line was magic
You say you’re a ‘whanabee’ rock singer, Rob, believe you me with this vocal you
are, and a good one who does not have to stand back for anyone.

Excellent work Rob. It all works together and your vocal comes through strongly on this song, so it's clear you own it. Perfect choice of the new XTRA styles.

Super song for this style... its going to be hard to beat in the rock category. Great production from you as usual.
The drama in the song is very convincing - so kudos to your wannabe rock chops, you nailed the vocal!

Great choice of rock delivery.

The Builds throughout give tension and dimension.

Very well produced. Nice driving beat, and sensational vocal performance.

Hello, Rob

Your Hard Rock vocal is so good and powerful.
I like your chord progression of this song.
And also I like the way you blend strings with Rock song.
Very enjoyable listen.

Thank you Shigeki!

Yes, the vocals took some work here, way out of my comfort zone ;-)
A very cool competition, lots of good stuff.

Rob,
I copy from my post in the User Showcase:
Tis is a bit like a softer version of Iron Maiden as your voice is as powerful as Bruce Dickinson's

good luck
