I know that quite a few of you use iZotope products in your DAW so I just wanted a few opinions.
I am on the verge of jumping in as they have a great offer on the Music Production Bundle until 31 October.

What do you owners think? Could you live without it or is it a must have bundle? Is it reliable and stable?

I really like the look of Neutron for speeding up the mixing process with its masking meter but I also think Ozone and Nectar have some great content in them too. I'm not so bothered about the other items but the bundle price is similar to the normal cost of Ozone alone so it starts to look like a no-brainer.

Thanks
Rec
P.S. So far I use mainly Waves products (e.g. Gold Bundle, CLA series, Tony Maserati) apart from the products already included in the Sonar Platinum bundle.

If you have WAVES and are happy with it, I don't think you would necessarily gain anything magical by getting the iZotope MPB.....however, it's always nice to have more toys...uhh, I meant to say "Tools".... yeah it's always nice to have more tools.

I do not have the MPB bundle you are speaking of. I do, however, have several versions of Ozone and love them. I tend to use the latest version the most. (O3 & O4)

Ozone is one of my MUST HAVE tools. In fact, I have pared down my list of tools that I use and Ozone is practically the only thing, aside from the default Sonar plugs, that I do use in my projects. I have set up a number of tweaked presets as starting points and quite often, I can simply open my custom preset and go.

If you have the discretionary and disposable income laying around, and want a good set of tools for audio.... I recommend it highly.

Once you have the Izotope bundle you won't need much else! Ozone is simply amazing for mastering. Nectar is incredible for vocals. And Alloy is a fine set of tools for everything else. I used to collect all of the free/cheap plugs out there but once I got the Izotope MPB I almost never use anything else. The built-in presets are perfect as a starting point and sometimes all you need.

There are three tools that have really helped me up my game in music production...BIAB, Reaper and Izotope MPB!

We and several of our forum collaborators are very pleased with Izotope products. I find Nectar 2's vocal processing to be spectacular but have never used the harmony generation/pitch control modules...so I can't comment on them. The presets are great and I can typically find one I like that requires very little tweaking. IMO the EMT 140 reverb simulation is worth the price and I use it on a lot of tracks other than vocals. Also the breath reduction separate module that comes with Nectar 2 does a great job.

I really like Alloy2 for processing bass, drums and acoustic guitars.

And, last but way from least, I use Ozone 7 Advanced for mastering. Like mastering in general it will not make a bad mix sound good but it will really make a good mix pop. And with the advanced version you can use all of the modules individually at the track level if you wish. The stereo imager is great on drums, etc.

Yeah, I'm a fan!

Hey Receder! ****Thread Hijack****

Speaking of plugins, I got an email that the Eventide Quadravox Harmonizer plugin is on sale for $49.

I saw you used that on a recent song in the User Showcase.

I also liked the demo linked below...

Your thoughts? I loved the tweaking ability the video showed.

Wow, thanks Bud for the great summary of the all the iZotope goodness! I have also been watching some YT videos on iZotope like this one on the making of Neutron. What really comes across is how passionate the company is to innovate and yet make it useable. I am completely sold! Nuff said.

Many thanks

Hi Steve,

I also picked it up in a sale and I have to admit that I got it for the harmony capabilities.
However, when I tried some of the other stuff it could do it blew my mind.
It has a lot of presets built in which also help to get you started quickly.
It was a natural first choice for the "climbing" part of Secret of the Trees as I found the sound I wanted within a couple of minutes.

I haven't really used it for much else as yet but I expect to in future. The other interesting product in a harmonizing vein and which is often on half price offer is Melda MMultiBandHarmonizer which I hope to pick up when it's next on offer.

If there's anything you would like me to try for you in the plugin let me know. Or I could use it to process one of your sound snippets and send the results back to you. Let me know.

UPDATE: I have just tried it for vocal harmonies and I would say that anything above a major 3rd can sound a little chipmunk like. I don't see any direct Formant control but it has an option to set the instrument type which includes various vocal types. However, these don't seem to make much difference. You could always try the 30 day demo version to see if it is what you want.

Hope that helps,
Rec

Thanks Receder. I think in the demo when they started to sound a little chipmunk, they just moved the slider more away from wet mix towards dry so it blends a little better.

Thanks for the info though. That was all I needed. I would initially use it for vocal harmonies as well.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
