This is the second and final revision of the song "Visiting Beautiful Kyoto". Please refer to the revision history attached to this memo. I feel deeply attached to the melody or the song. I like the previous versions, but frankly, I am not satisfied with them because they are the result of kind of compromise. Now I think I could finally complete the version that I am satisfied with. I sincerely hope you would kindly listen to it and really hope you like it. https://soundcloud.com/hirokata1121/visiting-beautiful-city-revisedRevision History1. Visiting Beautiful Kyoto: Original version; Strings (1st chorus ) and Vocal in Japanese (2nd chorus) The result of kind of compromise; it integrates both instrumental and vocal parts into one song. https://soundcloud.com/hirokata1121/visiting-beautiful-kyotohttp://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=333742&page=12. Visiting Beautiful City:The first revision. It simply replaced the vocal with two instruments (oboe/clarinet). The whole melody is repeated twice and it is somewhat boring. https://soundcloud.com/hirokata1121/visiting-beautiful-cityhttp://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=352395&page=13. Visiting Beautiful City (Revised): This versionFull strings version. The melody is played by the violins with the piano arpeggio and backing strings ensembles for the first half, and it is played by the cellos with the harp arpeggio and backing strings ensembles for the rest. ******* Summary ******* Key=Bm, Tempo=80 Styles: ARPORK34.STY (Orchestral Arpeggio 3/4) (MIDI style) and EMERALD.STY (Slow Peaceful 3/4 Orchestral) (MIDI style) Instruments(D-PRO): 1st Violins Espressivo f Cellos Espressivo f Basses Legato f Grand Piano 3v 4th (Arpeggio) Harp Solo (Arpeggio) Full Strings (small) Full Strings (big)

Hi, I'm listening right now with earbuds, and it is beautiful. I'm going to listen tomorrow again with proper headphones, but I'm liking the cellos in the second half because the violins seem too bright in the first half, but we'll hear tomorrow. I find it interesting that it may be about Kyoto but it's not Japanese particularly and it could be about any city with an ancient past.

Hi, Thank you for your listening to my song and giving me your initial comment. I look forward to your follow-up comment. You are right. It could be about any city with many beautiful and traditional sights. The reason I gave the original version the title with Kyoto was when I posted it to the forum, I was requested to post the song with the vocal in Japanese, so I made a short lyrics about the visit to Kyoto. When I made the first revision after that in which the vocal was replaced by instruments, I changed Kyoto to City because there was no reason to use Kyoto for its title then. I hope this answers your interest. Hiroshi

Hi Hiroshi, it's much more beautiful listening with good headphones and a Focusrite Scarlett Solo audio interface. The arpeggio is great. What I said was bright wasn't really violin, i.e., the solo violin, but rather the backing strings. For my taste I think the ending happens too fast, I would have gone on for another couple of seconds, maybe just have the lower sounds.
Anyway, I think you did a superp job of using the arpeggio and emerald styles, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from you.

Marty (San Jose, CA) Hi Marty, Thank you very much for your listening again and giving me the additional feedback. I think the best experience can be got by using good headphones for this type of music as you did, because we can hear every detail of songs and also enjoy exquisite sound such as strings and wind instruments very well. Yes, I think the backing strings for the violins are playing a little bit too loud as if they want to compete with the violins, while those for the cellos are rather discreet as if they just want to support the cellos. I also think this difference of the characteristics of the backing strings is well balanced with that of the violins or cellos, and it produces good contrast between the first section and the second section. I myself like the cello section better as you do, but probably it will highly depend on my mood then. As for the ending, probably you are right. Thank you for pointing it out. Anyway, I am very glad you like it. I would be very happy if you could listen to other songs of mine by visiting my profile of Soundcloud or by using the superb searching feature of all user showcase songs of the forum. Hiroshi

Hiroshi,
This is very beautiful. Your use of the strings RealTracks is wonderful! The arpeggio piano in the background is soothing and creates wonderful movement. Thank you for the share.

As far as the loud back strings while listening to them on my monitors they sounded fine to me. YMMV I really like this as this beautiful song shows the classical side of BiaB. This is a keeper.

Pauline PG Music Team Hello Pauline, Thank you for your comment. It encouraged me a lot that my work produced by using BIAB was praised by the PG Music staff like you. I think BIAB is such an extraordinary application program. Without it, I could never create this work. Incidentally, I used not RealTracks but MIDI Tracks for this work. It is surprising that the combination of MIDI Tracks and VST instruments can produce the quality as high as RealTracks. Hiroshi

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
