No, not me, I'm not old enough (or rich enough). It's a piece of equipment that has served me faithfully for over 40 years.

Back in 1975, I was young, and had little money. I'd moved out of home and badly needed something to play music on. I scrimped & saved and finally got enough money together to buy myself a "sound system." I opted for a Sanyo system, that included an AM/FM radio (FM virtually unheard of in those days,) a turntable, and two (count 'em) TWO speakers. And a microphone input AND headphone jack. It was a piece of furniture- imitation wood grain and imitation brushed stainless steel. (these days it would be called a gramophone.) The following year I saved up & bought the tape (cassette) deck that was part of the "system."

Over the next years I used it at every opportunity, playing vinyls, cassettes, recording, and listening to the radio.

Over the years, the tape deck died, as did the turntable, and I replaced the speakers with better ones. But the tuner still worked fine.

Years later when I got back into music and got into Band In A Box, I used the tape deck input as an amplifier. When I finally bought a "real amp" I only used the Sanyo to listen to the radio, or to listen to TV (a stone age "theatre system.")

However, today I decided to put it out to pasture. I had a spare sound system that I installed into my music room, hooked it up to the TV, and can now listen to the radio without any static or hum.

But I couldn't bring myself to toss it into the rubbish (just yet?) I put it into my rack where it can sit & enjoy its retirement.
Sentimental... yes
Hoarder yes.
But every time I look at it I can remember the many hours that it has served me so well.

Enjoy your retirement, Mr Sanyo.

Has anyone else got any old equipment that they use regularly? (pre 1970 Fenders or Gibson's don't count grin)

For a 65 year old man, asking if I use my "old equipment" is a REALLY loaded question......

Oh, wait. You specify REGULARLY....

Okay then, so, no.

I have a Yamaha TX-81Z, a Roland JV-880 and a Roland String Ensemble S-ME1 that I use occasionally.

I also am a 70 year old phart with a severe case of CRS and that is the biggest problem that I have with my system!

Yes. Most of my instruments do not go back that far, after many purchases and trades, except one: my vibraphone. This was used in Linda Ronstadt's band, and I bought it in 1974 from her drummer who needed the money.

As far as audio equipment, I still have two sets of Pioneer speakers I bought in the early 70s. The rest of the stereo system is updated except one thing: the Kenwood tuner. Where I live, to get FM radio of any quality, I need an outside FM antenna, rotor, booster, and a tuner with one terrific sensitivity rating, and that's my Kenwood. Still works a champ. The problem isn't the tuner, it's what's on the radio.

Just curious, why are we in THIS forum?

Updated Song Titles Browser in Band-in-a-Box® 2020!

If you're looking for a Band-in-a-Box® Style in the feel of a familiar/popular song title, then the Song Titles Browser option in the Band-in-a-Box® StylePicker is the perfect feature for you!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2020, we’ve added 3,400 more song titles including requests from users, so there are now 14,000 titles to search from!

Just type in a familiar song title or artist name - once you have found the song, press the [OK - Find Matching Styles] button. This will take you to the StylePicker window with styles that best match the tempo, feel, and genre of the selected song title.

Didn't find the song you were searching for? Post your title request to our Wishlist forum: Songs to add to Band-in-a-Box Titles database - we think that the 3,400 new titles added with Version 2020 is proof that we're paying attention!

Learn more about the different features of the Band-in-a-Box® StylePicker here.

SongPicker Enhancements in Band-in-a-Box® 2020 for Mac!

The Band-in-a-Box® SongPicker has been enhanced with our newest 2020 version!

The SongPicker now builds faster for large song lists (>30K and up to 60,000 songs). The [Song] button (or the [Open] button) now has 3 additional menu items to launch the SongPicker.

- Open SongPicker in Current Folder: This opens the SongPicker in the current folder of the last loaded song.
- Open SongPicker in Home Folder: This opens the SongPicker in the home folder, which is Applications/Band-in-a-Box/MySongs or as set in the SongPicker.
- Open SongPicker in Favorite Folder: This launches the Favorite Folder dialog which allows you to choose any previously used folder where a song was loaded from, and then open the SongPicker in that folder.

In the SongPicker, there is a new “Open in Home” option. If this is enabled, the SongPicker will always open in the home folder instead of the current folder when you press the default [Song] button to open the SongPicker.

Searching for songs matching a chord progression or melody has been enhanced. There are three new checkboxes: "Key must match exactly," "Chord Extension must match exactly", and "Time Signature must match."

Click here to jump to the SongPicker subject in our New Features video to learn more. (32:11)

(read more about this feature in our Band-in-a-Box 2020 for Mac Online Upgrade Manual.)
