Passing Through

(Intro)

Another new town today; cold rain falling and snow’s on the way
Meet you on the street feel your gaze; amazing grace staring me face to face
You could win me easily; don’t do it, I’ll just bring you misery
I’m a man with a heart of stone; come sunrise, I’ll be gone; I’m just passing through

I’m passing through
Girl don’t set your sight on me; let me hurt you so needlessly
I’m just passing through

(Break)

I’m passing through; I’m passing through
I’m just a player in the band; don’t give your heart to a one night stand; I’m just passing through

I’m passing through
Girl don’t set your sight on me; I’ll just hurt you so needlessly
I’m just passing through

(Outro)

Charlie,

Very nice! Love the feel of this one - the banjo is also a great addition. Cool vocal and mix as well.

Charlie,

This is SUPERB!

A very interesting opening. The bass and brush made me think you might be doing a Tom-Waits-thing...and then it wasn't...the addition of banjo and chord piano was excellent. And the underlying synth, too...

The mix is excellent. The vocal sits perfectly.

The chord progression has a Jimmy Webb (Glen Campbell) feel to it.

A stellar write! When I first looked at the lyric, I wondered how this was going to work. Boy! did it! One of the best of the forum, I think - and that's some stiff competition.

You've talked a lot lately about "doing it right once". This fits the bill. But, boy! I hope you do it many times over...

This. Is. Excellent.

Really good mix of instruments - the brushes and the banjo really gell.
Excellent mix and a nicely written lyric.
Top quality all round.

Thanks Bob. This is the first 'new' song I've written in quite a while. Glad you enjoyed it.

Wow Floyd. Thank you so very much. I had no idea or hope of such a positive review from anyone on the forum. It's so encouraging because this song is a new write completely. I can't think of any other song I've posted that wasn't either a re-write of an old tune or simply upgraded remake using BIAB. I truly appreciate your comments. Thanks.

Charlie, I love the choice of instruments. The mix is perfect. The arrangement, together with the fine vocal, and the economy of words in the lyric set this up to be a beautifully executed mood piece. This is no doubt among your best. Great work! Tom

Great sound, very different than what I expected. Strong write and performance.
I see that I'm not the only one who will sometimes take an interesting part of a
chord progression from one song in BIAB and use it with a different style.
Very creative, enjoyed it!

Kenny

WOW this is top shelf all the way!

What a super combination of sounds and your vocal is perfect. A very nice chord progression as well.

This is a keeper.

I'm glad it was a nice surprise Kenny... Yes, I do a lot of auditions and troll the User Showcase looking for chord progressions and interesting instruments. The changes in 2017 Style Picker helped me a lot. Thanks for listening.

This is superb. By any yardstick measuring any aspect it is superb.

The write, the performance and the band are all in the pocket and hittin' the note.

We'd rather listen again than parse it out.

I think we mentioned superb!

Charlie, this is a sensational write.

Fantastic lyrics, and the choice of style and especially tempo fits absolutely perfectly.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
