Well my wife Gayle wanted to take a crack at Secret Town, a song I posted last year.

https://soundcloud.com/gayle-snyder/secret-town

https://www.reverbnation.com/gaylerobinsonsnyder4/song

https://soundcloud.com/gayle-snyder

On Reverb, It is the first song in the list.

There is just something about a woman singing rock 'n roll.

Linda Ronstadt. Stevie Nicks. Gayle Snyder.

How can you go wrong??? smile

Genre: Rock and Roll

Secret Town

Performed by Gayle Snyder

Music and Lyrics By David Snyder

V1

I hear the rain coming down
in your secret town
I see the writing on the wall
In your secret town
I can almost see it all
In your secret town
I think the night’s about to fall
In your secret town

Here comes the young girl
Looking for a lover
Who’ll discover everything
Here comes the highway
Just like a tinderbox
To make your mind go up in flames

CH

A minor miracle
The grace to make a choice
In these secret games
A minor miracle
The grace to make a choice

V2

Here comes the dark horse
Painted like the white horse
In your secret town
Here comes the stardust competing with the dirt and rust
In your secret town
Here comes the rebel
He thinks he’s only human
He’d give his heart to anything
Just tender mercies
These loves among the ruins
Don’t you think I feel the same

CH

A minor circumstance
The chance to place a bet
On these secret games
A minor miracle
The chance to place a bet
On your secret name

Outro

Do you want me to spell it out for you
Do you want me to spell it put for you
I love your secret town, I love your secret town
I want to walk with you, hand in hand in hand in hand
In your Secret Town

well David,

Your wife certainly did a fine job.
A nice voice with a very cool sustain.

She sings well.

Back off the reverb. It washes out the character in her voice and makes it hard to understand the words she's singing. Bring her voice more up to the front of the mix. No need to hide her in the back.

Good song, and vocal is fine indeed! I agree with Herb on the reverb, a bit too much for my tastes.

How nice that you can make music together! Built-in girl-singer! My wife won't set foot in my studio - too much chaos for her.

A fine job on this. Nice flow all around.

I think the vocal effects work well for this. Even thought a doubling (meaning more processing) would fit well, too - give it an ethereal thing...I like the Springsteen-like band, too...

Hello, David

Nice song and sweet vocal!
I agree with Herb on the reverb, I would also like to listen her straight vocal.
And how nice that you can make music together as floyd said.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best Regards.

Glad floyd noted that...yeah!

We certainly love the hubbie/wife team thing. Of course If I sang and posted it here we would be virtually tarred, feathered and given a life time forum ban.

The reverb thing, like all of this stuff, comes down to personal preferences. Janice will tell me if she thinks I have "over processed" her vocal so I just go with her opinion -- works for me. laugh

This is a cool production and even more so given that you both have recorded the same tune!

WOW, your wife has a super voice! It looks like she is a guitarist also.

I also agree about the reverb.

The backing tracks are perfect for this song.

Be sure to tell Gayle that she is the most talented musician in the house! Ducking and running for cover!

Also tell Gayle that she should sing more. Between the two of you I can hear some get sounding duets coming.

Great job on everything.

Two thumbs up.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
