What I was wondering, can I replace that lead count with a real or generated drum count? Like a one second file I could place on the timeline? What I am doing now is fade in or remove lead count. Is it somewhere in BB?

Don't know if this helps, but if you go to the "Count-in/Metronome" options screen, look for the field "Lead-in Type". There you can actually select to have the lead-in be either the A or B drum fill from the style you are using. You can also check the box to use a 1 bar count-in rather than 2 bars.

Aha,,Thx JFord. I was thinking there would be a solution in there, somewhere. The internet search revealed many interesting solutions. Back in the analog days, techs would run the tape backwards and beat out the intro at the end. Then, turn the reel right side up. Thanks.

+1 thanks for that info too John. Hadn't found that facility yet. Up to now I've been working on tracks in RealBand and if I needed a drum fill start I just cut an A or B fill from within the drum track and pasted to just before the song start. Nice to have an alternative in BIAB.

That is brilliant!! I've been using this product since 2001 or so, never knew you could do that! I've always built my own drum intro parts. Shows you can indeed show an old dog new tricks, now, off to go and try it! ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif)

I don't know of a way to fade in or out within BIAB. And, I usually create my own count in by turning off the count in in preferences. For a drum into;... Put cursor on bar 1 Edit Insert Bars 2 You now have two bars in front of your song and your whole song including start/begin/repeat/tag/end/etc has moved over 2 bars. Repeats will now go back to bar 3 if that's what you had it set to. Or, set the start bar to bar 3. On bar 1 enter a chord that rests everything except drums like this: A#m.d You will have drums playing for 2 bars, then the song starts. If there is a part marker (colored square) at the 3rd bar you will get a drum roll just before the first 3rd bar. Regenerate for different drum patterns. Or,... Right click directly on top of the bar number 3. This will give you the option to have a drum fill just before bar 3 and also lets you force/choose from the style your beginning drum pattern. Which you can have different for the 2 bar into if you like. For a shorter drum roll in try this; Rest all instruments on first bar. Like this: A#m. Put a A#m.d on the 3rd beat of the 2nd bar. Or wherever you think works best.

Jford, and Tobias those are both awesome! So cool! I think I need to hang out in the newbies section more often! You're only limited to what you know! ![wink wink](/forums/images/graemlins/default/wink.gif) Thanks Ed for asking a question I didn't know I had! ![wink wink](/forums/images/graemlins/default/wink.gif) Great question!

There does seem to be a problem with this when rendering to wave file, at least if you select a one bar lead in which is what I want. If you select the one bar lead-in, 'b' sub-style fills, it plays perfectly from within BIAB, but when you render to a WAV file, instead of a one bar lead-in you get a two bar lead in. Not a huge deal, I can trim the extra bar after the fact, but seems like a bug?

I seem to get different results when using the drop box and when using the WAV button in the tool bar above the song name. So I only use the drop box quadrant for a quick render of the whole some so I can send it to the song writer for initial form scrutiny. When I'm ready to take individual tracks/stems to a DAW I mute every track I don't want rendered, use the WAV button which gives me some useful options. Somehow I get exactly what I saved in the song and preferences this way. I don't remember my exact process but I was frustrated with trying to get the correct count in from the count in setting so I found this to work consistently. Everything in the preferences dialog is unchecked. I almost always make 2 bars of drums only from the style I'm using.
